    Hi all,

Got back from a few days in Vegas last week, if I had to recommend only one thing it would be the Scoot City Tour around red rock canyon. Absolutely amazing views, and great fun driving the scooters about! $125 per person, which we thought reasonable enough in comparison to tours to the grand canyon etc.

We stayed at the Luxor, which was nice, but having seen most of the rest of the hotels on the strip during our stay would have to say Luxor definitely markets itself on the nightclubs and shows they have (Carrot top, fantasy etc.). Most other places seemed to have alot more buzz in and around the casinos etc, more bars, places to eat etc. Apart from the Tropicana, which looked pretty dull!

Beware of timeshare people in Luxor and Excalibur as well (they will approach you and ask if you're 'in town for a few days' as an opening gambit). They will offer you free show tickets but at the cost of half a day of your trip for a sales pitch for some notional resort that they plan to build in 5 years time down the road. We had to fight one off on our arrival before we even managed to check in to the hotel!

Well, we actually went on one of these, knew full well what it was but they gave us $125 of free vouchers for gaming/food/shows etc so we thought why not??! It was hilarious, they offered us a timeshare in Vegas that began at $44,000 and ended up offering it to us at $4990. 3 hours worth of waffle but not a scary hard sell, just a 'How about if we take the deposit off?, How about if we reduce it to this?' type thing. Well worth it but we had been in the USA for 20 days by then!

I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but two ways to avoid them:

    1) If you are a couple, as soon as you see them, split up as you go past/around them...they'll almost always stop couples.

    2) 'my flight leaves tonight' will stop them in their track...though I acknowledge that one will not really work if you are obviously checking in. :)

People used to say that 'I've been declared bankrupt' worked, but apparently not as often in this financial climate as before. :)

Me and the missus are off on wednesday, never seen this mentioned so I thought I might post it.

On the 21st till the 24th there is a PGA Golf tournament being held in vegas. If you dont fancy watching the golfers on the wednesday 20th of october they hold a pro-am tournie. We went last year and saw, met, had photos with celebrity's such as Justin Timberlake,George lopez,Oscar dela hoya, kenny g,Alice cooper,Numerous american football, baseball stars,it's a nice day out and even the missus loves walking round checking out some of the beautiful houses that look over the course(Andre agassi and Steffi grafs old house overlooking the 15th green is fantastic).

The course is in Summerlin and a free shuttle goes from the suncoast casino,I think there is a shuttle from the strip to the suncoast but I'm not sure on that one
