I think that was Froggit's point...that even the classic rooms at Caesars can sometimes be quite expensive relative to the quality of the rooms.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
December ( including Xmas and New Year )i have stayed at circus circus and excalibur in the past so caesars palace surely isn't that bad..is it?0

Cher tickets are only collected at the box office at Caesars, but you can pick them up before your show date. You need the credit/debit card you booked with.
I have Celine booked for next March, and each time I pick up a ticket for Cher, they keep asking if I also want to pick up the Celine ticket. I decline till nearer the date, as if the show is cancelled it will be easier to apply for a refund if they still have the ticket.0 -
You can book into one of the high end hotels, but you don't have to eat or drink there. You can do that at much cheaper places.
I can and I do and it isnt really a problem for us as we always have a car but if you dont have a car and dont want to walk it can be an issue.
I noticed it much more this time when we stayed at the Wynn as there is really nowhere close enough (for me) to walk to and I like to gamble close to my room.
I love to have a nice room when in vegas as we all know the prices are fantastic, but I think it may be the Flamingo next time as there are so many options to gamble nearby0 -

From my understanding and my experience at Excalibur some years ago and photos and reviews I've seen for Caesars, the classic rooms at Caesars are not as nice as the standard rooms at Excalibur, and would imagine nowhere near as nice as the refurbished rooms at Excalibur.
Other rooms at Caesars are obviously much nicer - but the classic rooms are not...maybe they are OK, but not what people generally think of when they think of CP, and certainly not at those sorts of prices. Maybe they have started updating them now but if the bellboys used to call it 'The Motel 6 Tower' then that does not bode well!

just catching up as I await my proper adjustment back into GMT! - sorry for jibbering but thought i'd chuck all my replies into one post!
our trip was from 29th August to 11th September so was quite long compared to our previous trips - will do a bit of a summary / report later on
Did BA (Heathrow direct) flight, and stayed at:
- MGM Celebrity Spa Suite
- Furness Creek Ranch (Death Valley)
- The Platinum (Solitaire Suite)
- Encore (Resort King)
If anyone has any specific questions about any of the above, just shoutYup, me too. I am dying to see some wild rattlers, but only lizards this time. I need to get out into the desert on my own a bit earlier in the day:DGetting Zapped at Slots, door handles, other people etc.!! We usually go Spring time and I always suffer badly, getting zapped everywhere. Last month In the middle of summer I didnt get zapped anywhere, it was such a relief. I dont know why it is so different in the summer thoughI wouldn't think so - it doesn't really seem like it had majorly bad intentions...Have to say when I was sitting in stripburger i did wonder why everyone was so desperate for a restaurant.com voucher for it.
The burger was nothing specialshame there were so many wasps there!! this is the first time we've been vegas and harrassed by any sort of insect (can tell its summer eh!) - but wasps! *grr*
in fact, the insects chasing the missus in death valley were MASSIVE!See how people differ.
we also thought Planet Hollywood 'Spice Market' buffet pales in comparison to Mandalay Bays...
This place is good for opinions but people definitely need to broaden their horizons and try stuff for themselvesI know the above is an old post, but as I have posted before that everytime I stay ay MGM there are problems, well it happened again this year.
I booked on the above offer (didnt take a screenshot), on my reservation print out it did not mention 2 x tube rentals free. On check in he said there was nothing to say I had these included so charge to room and get them taken off on check out.Made it back about 6pm. The BA flight was fine and arrived at 2:30 on schedule. They had problems with the in-flight entertainment and had to re-boot the system twice.I totally get what you say about Wynn being too upmarket- it is for us too, in theory...but for whatever reason we never feel out of place there...whereas we did when we stayed at Bellagio - weird. We sat for another couple of hours in Bills watching a good cover band called Acoustic Soul, who did requests from their catalogue, pitcher of Coors Lite consumed.
essentially, they are a 'live jukebox band' - they give you a book of songs they do, and you just pop a request in the bucket along with a 'tip' and they go through and play them out - good stuff and not really seen anything done like that before - huge array of songs too and they play different instruments (ie. the bass player also plays violin) - the guitar part of "sweet child o' mine" sounded great on violin!I walked in...did one quick circuit, and walked back out. Sadly for me, I have limited patience for shopping and have NO patience if it's really crowded too...if it were pretty quiet, I could have had a bit of a look but as it was you couldn't walk down any aisle due to people and shopping carts blocking every one of them.
Kate0208 - thanks for the http://www.sunbuggy.net/ tip - going to have a check on that for our (inevitable) next trip - is that the right website?? if so, which one did you do??0 -
Great photos by the way Boa!!
oh, and who was asking about 'Mix' @ Mandalay Bay? there were people handing out 'discount' admission vouchers in the casino (also 2 for 1 drinks at Eye Candy and something else) -- didn't say 'what' it was discounted too, but I can recall from previous adventures up to those heights that if you go up early (ie. 7pm'ish) on a weekday, they'll let you up there for free
one tip if you do go up there, you MUST go to the toilets!!(I can only vouch for the gents toilets however! haha)
