) 2 weeks today. Long story short my future MIL has not booked her travel yet. She's wanting to fly from Edinburgh via as few connections as possible (and preferrably not via London as she got lost in Heathrow once!).
Due to her finances she won't be able to book till next week - currently it looks like Continental will be her best bet (Edin-Newark, Newark-Vegas). Not the cheapest at £823 return, but she'd be happy to pay that if it's the easiest option.
Does anyone have any good/bad experiences of Continental long haul flights?
Does anyone have any other clever routes she could use?
Our wedding is Sun 12 Sept, so as long as she is in Vegas for then, I'd appreciate any suggestions......
Thanks in advance, I've been lurking on here for a while and found out lots of useful info .... hopefully I'll be just as knowledgable once I've actually been:o
Also if anyone has good poker room suggestions for the OH then that'd be good. He's wanted to play poker in Vegas for 4yrs (since winning some good hands in Atlantic City) but hasn't done any research yet as to where to play!! His side of the family are very disorganised.
Hiya just had a look at another option for your MIL. If she can fly from Glasgow then another good option is US Airways. I put in the 9th - 15th and it is £635 return. Glasgow to Philadelphi then Philadelphi to Vegas. For an extra hour on a train to Glasgow she could save £200.
Also try Continental from Glasgow as they may have more availability therefore cheaper prices, and Delta from Edinburgh to Atlanta with an onward flight to Las Vegas.Lucky wins - Rituals Beauty Advent Calendar; Starbucks Coffee & £20 Gift Card; Amazing Hen Weekend at Dunblane Hydro; Heat Magazine Book Bundle; Le Crueset Goodies :j

Thanks Ferf ,
I have checked out the Venetian and yes a lot of similar descriptions coming up, BUT.... is it worth taking a chance?
£ 750 for 7 nights in the Venetian sounds cheap but only if it is that hotel. Has anyone booked this way before with Bookit.com. Totaly freaking out now cos i should have booked this ages ago. 16 days and counting.
Not that cheap - email last week for $119 weekdays at Venetian - didnt look but maybe $169 weekend, which works out a hundred pounds or so cheaper AND you know what youre getting.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Rumors that Madonna may be about to sign a 5 year deal for residence in Vegas for a reported $1 BILLION, that is $547,945.21 a day. The figures have been worked out and if she does the same schedule as CD it would be $1 million a performance, not so unbelievable as that would mean tickets would have to cost about $250 each,(assuming it is the Coliseum) but would be subsidised by the casino as they would expect you to see the show and then lose a couple of hundred.illegitimi non carborundum0

Oooh and so begins the planning....now we've got the flights myself and hubby are thinking about our schedule.:D
So accommodation is obviously the next step, I know I don't want to stay at the MGM end of the strip this time, which is a shame as it rules out the Signature which had interested me after reading so many good reports about it.
Think we'll head back down the Bellagio and Bally's end, maybe the Encore or Wynn having read such great things....
So time to get organised, counting down until March 2011.
Going to look at Crown Currency and also start loading my Fairfx card.:DDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

SeptemberCongrats on booking your flights Triker...Glad to see your getting organised already
I'm still torn about where to stay for our second week and we go in less than 4 weeks...I've got the IP booked for 2 weeks so it's not like I don't have a hotel to stay in...the only thing that's putting me off is last time we went we stayed in the MGM for the second part of our stay and ended up walking up to the Harrah's/Ceasars end almost every evening so we may as well have stayed at the IP for the whole of our stay and saved ourselves some walking:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0 -
October , NovemberI've just realised that I have an Origin India cert for $25 that expires before we go back. It is valid until 24th Sept if anyone is interested. PM me with your email and I'll forward it to you.0

Yep, know exactly what you mean, it's like MGM, Excalibur and NYNY have you in their vortex...thats why I don't want to stay up that way again. We ended up driving out every day but it was a pain in the bum having to self park, hike the 3 miles back to room, get ready, hike back, find car..:o:rotfl:, and then get back on the road.
I am tempted by Bill's Gamblin Hall, only because of the short distance in walking from room to street, never mind casino, plus we stayed there when it was the Barbary Coast and loved it.
But its early days yet although top of my list is definately this time, we'll get a picture of the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign....oh and eat at the Cheesecake Factory...oh and go to Bryce Canyon...etc, etc:D.

I started reading this thread earlier as my mum recently came back from a 4 night stay at the Excalibur and she has told me I must go and experience it! I can't possibly thank button everyone who has contributed as there are so many of you but I just wanted to pass on my thanks
. Am hoping that maybe once I am back in the black that I will be able to plan a trip over there (although that means I have to read all the thousands of posts on this thread :rotfl:), maybe next year so at least I have plenty of time to digest the info!
