The Forum Tower is renovated and rooms are by all accounts nice. I had a reservation for that tower for early this month-Can't tell you what the rooms are like though as I used the $20 trick and got the Augustus -which was lovely. Probably the second nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in (the nicest was a completely lush five star hotel in Italy)and I've stayed in some pretty fantastic hotels in the course of my work over the years.

The upgrades from Forum are Augustus and Palace towers-Palace is right by the gorgeous pool area but a bit of a trek to get through the casino and out onto the Strip-Augustus is right off reception and very handy to get onto the Strip. I was offered Palace with a pool view on a high floor or Augustus on a low floor with "no view" No view was the Eiffel Tower and a restricted view of the fountains -did me nicely :)

i wouldnt get a prepaid card, get an abbeyzero instead, the problem with prepaid is if you dont spend it can be hard to retrive it without taking a loss

I doubt they'd get one in time -as you quoted the part where they said they are going next week.

Agree that it's a long walk from most towers, but if they do end up with a Forum Tower room the self-park is really quite close - something we noticed after we got upgraded to a Palace Tower room and realised that we spent most of our gambling time i the Forum casino and the self park was closest the Forum casino and maybe we should have stuck with our Forum Tower room after all. :)

We're looking forward to staying there again and I do hope we get upgraded to the Augustus Tower (though we won't count on it).

I'm going to print out the property map here

Just until we get used to it again as I get totally lost in that place. :)

Wow sounds fab! We're booked in to The Suite in The Hotel @ MB so I can't complain. I've never had a suite in my life but it's worth a try eh? :D

Wow you will love The Hotel! We stayed there on our last holiday to Vegas and just loved our stay so much (its probably still my favourite hotel in the world!). I agree there are no bad rooms, maybe just ask nicely if you can get a strip view on a high floor so that you can enjoy the amazing views!

You guys have been so helpfull over the last few days so you might be able to give me some advice.

I get paid on Friday and my plan was to grab some last minute travelers cheques. This would have to be at Gatwick because we have to leave the house at 6am and go straight to the airport to check in for our morning flight so can't go anywhere before!

I'm assuming that the airport isn't the most economical foreign exchange.

Would I be better off drawing cash out of my bank account from an ATM once I get there?

Whenever I've gone on holiday to other places this is what I've always done, but not done it in the US.

I've put a holiday marker on my bank account so I can use my card there if need be.

Oh and if anyone has rented a car with a debit card rather than credit card I'd love to know!

Just to reiterate what others have said. No matter what room you have booked at Caesars try for the upgrade to the Augustus Tower. We have stayed there 4 times and got the upgrade done on every occasion. Nothing ventured nothing gained. It is by far our favorite room that isn't a suite in Vegas. If you do get upgraded be a little bit cheeky and ask for a room near the elevators, they are quite a bit bigger than the standard rooms because of the design of the tower has "jutting out bits" (ohh err missus) in the centre by the lifts.
Also when you get to the room phone down to housekeeping and ask for the turn-down service, it is free and every night your room will be refreshed with clean towels, slippers and robes will be placed by the bed, lights turned down, bed made, soft music channel put on the T.V. and best of all, chocolate coins by the bed, just leave a couple of dollars on the bed before you go out.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I work at an airport and just checked this on my way in this morning. They are currently offering an exchange rate of 1.49 dollars to the pound. Plus there is normally a fee of £3.00.

The rate is less than you would get at the likes of Cheque Centre / M&S etc (I think about 1.52 just now?) but then, as you have pointed out these will not be open so early in the morning.

You will be charged for taking out cash from an ATM but I am not sure how much this will be. It would probably work out the same as buying currency from the airport but I would rather get it at the airport and know I have it.

I have most of my currency but like you get paid on the morning I fly out and want to take more out for 'just incases', i.e., just incase I see another pair of shoes I need to buy!
