For those thinking about booking the Signature for the first time, be aware that there is a $20/day resort fee on top of the room rate.

Our first visit to Vegas was only for 4 nights as part of a West Coast tour. We still had a day at the GC even in that short a visit and went by plane over the canyon.

We thought it was a one-off visit and that we would never be back so had to do it.

However this was over 20 years ago so there wasn't so much to see in Vegas itself.

We have contemplated going back to the GC, but I would only do it by chopper having had a horrendous experience with turbulence on the Cessna. However the choppers only go to the West Rim which the purist says isn't the real canyon so I'm a bit reluctant to spend that kind of money and not really enjoy it.

We saw the "real" canyon the first time, but as we were there around mid-day it wasn't as colourful as we were expecting as the sun was directly overhead.

Not much -you won't be guaranteed extra leg room especially on the direct flights-why not just PAY for premium economy rather than "see what you can get out of them" if you have valid health concerns

Quite honestly if DVT is a concern the sensible thing would be to fly indirect though
Quite honestly, if DVT and a heart condition were a concern I doubt that any airline would fly you long haul if they knew about it, let alone give you leg room seats. I also doubt that any travel insurance would be valid, unless a hefy premium was paid.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Hi guys, thanks for all the suggestions regarding The Signature.

    Few questions if i may

Are there any offers on atm? We are looking to book asap as its for our wedding and want to make sure we get that hotel on the dates.

Do they do room upgrades if you ask nicley? Also would it be best to book over the phone or via the net?
Go back a few pages for the $79/$99 w/e deal.

The rooms......its not like Caesars where the cheapest room sucks.....more like Venetian where the cheapest room is probably better than any hotel you have ever stayed in before!!! Mention tower 1, high floor, strip view on your booking and with luck youll get it.....we did. No need to hanker after the bedroom suites IMHO unless youve more people.....the Junior Suite was just fine.

Yes its a $20 a day resort fee, but that includes the gym and wifi. Other freebies included (last month) $5 off all MGM buffets for both of us, 2-4-1 entrees in some MGM restaurants and some other bits and pieces.

In terms of position, yes its a schlep to the strip, but depending on your room at MGM, its not much further. The moving walkways help, and theres the shortcut out the main gate to Harmon, Miracle Mile, Aria etc.

I would place on a par with Venetian, better than Mirage, and way better than Caesars......all for *bottom of the range* rooms in each hotel.

PS btw, when we went to Palazzo for Jersey Boys, we remembered the lovely spicey smell that Venetian had frmo when we stayed there......havent noticed other smells in other hotels.

I have a question for the ladies and it is vitally important... I'm going in late February and I have no idea what shoes to take! :rotfl:

We're going to LA and SF as well and so need shoes that will work for all parts of the holiday... basically, will i need flip flops and wedges or trainers and boots? I'll be wearing ugg boot type things for the flight as they're very warm so I'll have them whatever.

In terms of comfort - they're all the same for me! I'm thinking more in terms of temperature and climate.

    Thanks ladies!

Lol ...actually I quite the like the Venetian smell also ...but do a search on Venetian + smell and you'll see its a lot of poeple' #1 hates about the place.

Signature was out favourite hotel also for quite a few trips. 10minutes to the MGM if you waddle, a few minutes if you walk.

But as others have said it may be a once in a lifetime trip. I drove to the GC on my first visit with no regrets it is AWESOME. and of course fell in love with Vegas so have been back and back etc

Wracking my brain and I really can't think of a site in the USA that left me as disappointed as the GC did. Only been the once so far and next time (if we can build up enough enthusiasm) will be getting to the bottom, one way or another - rim only tour .....hmmmmm, if you are going to do it, do it right - drive and stop the night.
