AugustHas anyone else found Delta really expensive recently? We have $1200 ($600 each) in vouchers having taken a bump returning from Vegas last year. We want to fly from Manchester, not fussed about where we change (but only want to change once). Wanted to fly on 29th May for a week to take in the bank holiday weekend - flights coming in at $1200 each! We're quite flexible on dates really, but would like Saturday-Saturday if possible as it gets us a week away for a week of annual leave, without needing an extra day for flying.
I don't suppose anyone knows if the cost ever comes down?
Thanks in advance,
Rachel85
Vochers just for Delta? If not (I'm not really keyed up on the airline voucher mumbo), try US Airways. After booking Delta from Manchester to Vegas at the end of August for £450pp, I then got told about US Airways. They were doing flights at £420 for the same dates/same destinations or $620/£380 if you went through there US site. Which I imagine would be even cheaper considering the dates you wish to book for are even closer by (if not, just disregard my post).
On a personal night, I did go 'doh!' after realising I could have saved over £70pp by booking with US Airways rather then Delta (Delta prices have risen since considerably). But I just wanted the flights set in stone, and since then I have not checked any flight prices what-so-ever. No point giving myself a good kicking is there! :-D0 -
The GC is the opposite direction to LA.
Accomodations within the actual national park are all run by these folks:

Should have said - I think the cabins are under Bright Angel.

There are motels outside the entrance of the park where I know some people here have stayed...they are quite a lot cheaper and right outside the park...we really loved staying in the park and walking out the room before dawn to watch sunrise.
Thanks, What log cabin did you stay in?0 -
MayHi guys, thanks for all the suggestions regarding The Signature.
Few questions if i may
Are there any offers on atm? We are looking to book asap as its for our wedding and want to make sure we get that hotel on the dates.
Do they do room upgrades if you ask nicley? Also would it be best to book over the phone or via the net?
Also regarding the grand cayon how do you go about booking a log room? And sorry if my geography is off but we are planning to leave vegas and drive to LA but would like to stop over in the grand canyon if we can.
Thanks, everyone been great so far
P.s, sorry one more. We have been looking at flights and seen loads with stop overs, i am asuming that for those 5 hours or so you are stuck in the airport?
When are you thinking of going? You won't get any special rates more than 3 months in advance.
Have a look at https://www.luxurysuitesinternational.com We booked with them and everything was fine.
I would think you have more chance of an upgrade if you book through MGM, but I don't think upgrades at the Signature happen very often.0 -
October , NovemberA thought for those people going to Vegas for the first time.
Do not overbook
Do not think you need to do the Grand Canyon on the first trip.
(If you decided to have a holiday in the Lake District, then wanted some day trips, - be aware that Vegas to the Grand Canyon is like visiting Cornwall once you have arrived at your holiday destination.) There are several wonderful trips without doing the GC. (We didn't bother until the 9th trip)
My advice is - if you plan on another long haul trip anywhere else in the future, then don't bother with any long trips away from Las Vegas on your first trip. There will be more than enough to fill your time. You will probably miss out on lots of things if you try to fit too much into one holiday.
Too many trips/ visits = a bad Vegas experience.
I always recommend that your first trip has minimal structure. There is far more to see and do than you can ever imagine. We didn't even gamble a penny until our 4th trip.
That's just us, but beware of over-planning.0 -
MarchI see your point about overplanning BUT you're assuming everyone going will definitely go back. Not everyone wants to go to the same place more than once -or might hate Vegas so wouldn't go back just for the Canyon .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

We planned to our second trip - even reserved a rental car for the day for this purpose - we finally made it about trip 11 or 12.I agree with you and also duchy...if it's a one-off trip and seeing the GC is high on someone's list, then it may be worth the time...but if multiple future trips may be in the cards, then it's probably best not to try to cram it in.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We've booked o deal on the signature for june this year. Its on the Home Suite Home promo, stay 7 nights and get the 7th night free plus 2 x breakfast buffets at mgm grand per day. For our week there it is coming up around $1100

If it were me, I would drive, stay overnight and head back early the next morning...that's what we did when we went and I know I keep saying it, but night at the GC, staying in one of the lodges at the rim was awesome. Though with 4 potential drivers (if all can and are willing to drive) it would be an easy enough day trip. It's a very straightforward route.0

.
But as others have said it may be a once in a lifetime trip. I drove to the GC on my first visit with no regrets it is AWESOME. and of course fell in love with Vegas so have been back and back etc0
