I know weve only been twice but I can honestly say I've never been scared in Vegas...I know we've not ventured much from the strip other than a few trips to Terribles ,Hard rock and Ellis island....I felt perfectly safe every time

Depends what you call dangerous-a friend of mine returned from Vegas badly bruised last week. She got seperated from friends walking from Flamingo to Caesars and there was a group of drunks-One literally knocked her over. No malice-just stupidity-He just continued on-didn't even know he had done it-right in the front part of Ceasars. No-one helped her or even seemed to notice. This was 4pm on a busy Saturday afternoon.

I on the other hand have walked after dark from the Riv to Flamingo with no issues at all and have several times walked between the Flamingo and Caesars alone after midnight-and never felt the slightest bit uncomfortable.

I feel safer in Vegas late at night than I do in a lot of UK cities at the same time of night.

It might not be appropriate to say,and I apologise if it offends anyone, but, truth be told, you never know if anywhere is safe nowadays.I,like pebblesmax, live in Cumbria ( Cockermouth actually, moving back to Keswick soon)and after floods, bus crashes and a gunman on the rampage, all happening in the last nine months, you just never know what might happen to you.
In defence of Vegas,I wouldn't take my daughter with us if I thought there was any danger to her.
In fact,I think we should stop the negative talk of Vegas, when there is so many wonderful things to discuss.

Hear Hear...I would never have taken my 16 year old if I thought it was dangerous

I feel partly responsible as I asked the original question about walking from Circus Circus to Sahara,Riviera,Stratosphere

So sorry if anyone has been scared or put off

You can walk quite easily....just go through Bally's and out the door at the back of the Sportsbook area then its just to the end of the block turn right and a few hundred yards on the left...it's probably about 10-15 mins in total

Agree with TangoBunny - but just in case, the sportsbook is down the escalator at Bally's, on the lower level...so if coming from Paris, when you get to Bally's veer to the right...up a couple of stairs then a bit in front of you you will see the escalator down to the sportsbook/pool/shops/food court. You could also go out the Flamingo Road exit and turn right, but if it's quite hot outside the sportsbook exit keeps you in the cool a bit longer. :) You will see it as soon as you get to the corner of Flamingo and Koval, right next to a 7-11, and there's a Super 8 motel attached to EI.

I don't know whether I'm wearing rose tinted glasses when I look back to the early 70's in Vegas, but I genuinely cannot remember ever having seen one drunk or beggar back then, and nowhere was classed as iffy to walk to.

    Hi everyone

We're off to Vegas next week to get married and just found this thread! I have a million questions but prob a bit too late!

Has anyone used a cash passport/pre-paid mastercard for their $$$? We have one from Thomas Cook but First Choice told us in no uncertain terms that you CANNOT use them in Las Vegas! I think they're wrong personally! Can anyone confirm?

Also we really wanted to hire a car for a day or two but we don't have a credit card, I'm assuming there's no way we can?

Really worried we won't have enough money to do anything but eat and get about! We think we have about $200 per day. I know there's no point asking how much is enough because everyone is different but hoping we can do more than just that!
