I am going in September for a friend's stag do. Very excessive but looking forward to it!

We are staying at MGM Grand. I got cheaper rooms by signing up for the email service and straight away I received a 25% off discount not available through their website prices...

We were thinking of going for a steak at Circus Circus then walking to the other casino's after...prob around 10-11pm....Not a good idea????

Have just Google mapped walking from the Bellagio (as its more or less in the middle of the Strip) to The Strat and its 2 and a half miles. To the Freemont Street thingy, its 4 and a half! Wear comfy shoes, no flipflops and being elegant, I learnt that the hard way.......:rotfl:

We're going to LV on the 6th and I've been looking for 'O' tickets for Cirque du Soliel. I found Mystere and Ka but not 'O' ! Is it still on at the Bellagio or has it gone now?

Really wanted to see it and may be too late now......

It's still on, may be 25% off discount available (looks like for 10pm only - not recommended for your first night! )

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I'm sorry, but I just cannot imagine walking from the strip to downtown in the daytime let alone at night...you can take a bus if nothing else...it may be reasonably safe, but it looks really dodgy...when on holiday, I can't see walking that far in that sort of area to save a few bucks.

That's what we thought:) It was just the way a Rep said "oh yes 5 mins stroll to Downtown, a lovely walk any time of day.
Big Roy - "No way walk down here use a bus or a car"
Needless to say we followed Roy's advice.

No probs on the Strip though, just common sense and don't flash anything pricey about.

I remember when me and the OH went to vegas we took a helicopter flight down the strip, we saw the lights flashing from fremont street and I stupidly said it did not look that far from the stratosphere. So we got the road train thing to the stratosphere and started walking. This was about 10:30pm. Walked down the main road looking like a right tourist, with video camera wrapped around my neck. Never pooped myself so much in my life. Nothing happened and we eventually made it after about half an hour, but it looked well dodgy. a taxi back to the hotel and we were well relieved.

A good tip if walking somewhere that looks a little bit dodgy is,always take someone with you who is slower than yourself. We are taking my mother-in-law with us this time,so if we do get chased by unsavoury characters they'll grab the old bird, and we should manage to get away.:rotfl:

There are often better offers available than 25% off their web prices. posted on here and other forums

you were really brave . we don't like stopping the hire car in the area from Strat to downtown .

that said when we picked up our wedding license up on a saturday afternoon , that bit felt perfectly safe .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
