hi everyone
firstly....i cant believe we will be in vegas in a month, well.... we leave on 27th august and i cant bloody wait - im bursting at my seams!! thanks for everyones help on here, couldnt have done it all so well without you. we now have a rough itinerary of things to do and coupons and vouchers for most things and just a really good list of recommended places and things to see. im so excited.
we have our wedding (just us two) on 30th august at las vegas wedding chapel (702 weddings- and so far we're impressed with them, v.professional) and we have a limo ride for a few hours after from presidential (recommended from you guys) and stops for photos in our wedding gear! then a short night helicopter ride over the strip then onto dinner at mon am gabi (again, as recommended by you guys!) do you think thats too much to do in one day - we are hoping wedding at 4pm - finish at 6pm (they said 2 hours including photos?!?) then a relaxing 2 hour limo ride wth champagne, 8 o'clock flight (only 15 mins but they said an hour total there) then dinner booked for 9.15. are we trying to do too much?!?! what time does mon ami start packing up as it says closes at 10 but on the site you can book till 10 so is that last seating?! or starting to chuck you out and hurry you up?
We are hoping to go dune buggying (sp...is that a word) with sunbuggy - has anyone on here been? it gets good reviews and looks like the type of thing my guy would love but just wondering if anyone on here had a view?
in the end we got flights with continental (indirect) and accomodation for 9 nights at paris hotel through thomas cook for £1350 so i was well pleased with that!
and just to add my 2p's worth although i ended up booking through thomas cook i found luci's posts and info on hotels amazingly helpful!!
also i cant remember who recommended the fairfx card to me but thank you - we got one of those and we are pleased - we will still prob take more cash than money on the card but its nice to know you dont have to carry cash everywhere!!

October , NovemberNot sure what a good price for flights in school holidays would be - anyone else know?
Is there still a half term between Easter and Summer holidays (can you tell it's a while since I was at school and I have zero interest in children - I'm clueless :rotfl:)? You could price up the flights for a 7 day trip then and see how they come out, would maybe give you a rough idea of school holiday prices? I'd have a look for you but have no idea what the dates would be.
The other option is to do as suggested and work out roughly what the hotel might cost based offers available for this year, and take that off the total and see what you're left with.0 -
MayYes the T&C's of restaurant.com state that you can only use one certificate per restaurant per month so you can't use all four in one visit.
** Edit - I added that before I saw there was a whole page of further posts. Strangely when I was on Page 282 it said I was on Page 283 which was the last page........... **0 -
AprilFor what it's worth I've always thought Virgin Holidays to be overpriced compared to booking flights + hotels separately but I know some people prefer to book a package for whatever reason.
Me too - every time I've checked (and I have to admit it's been awhile) it seemed that Virgin doubles the hotel element...so it's a similar price to what the flights would cost booked direct plus twice the price of the hotel booked direct (and that's always been without looking too hard for deals on the hotel)....
It's out of date (about 2 years I think) but was a comparison I did looking at VH vs Virgin flights + hotel...posted in May regarding October flights (again, too long ago to be all that relevant, and exchange rate is also outdated but it's why VH makes me nervous, but things may have changed and if someone wants to lock in prices then I can understand it).
I check every once and a while for my own personal amusement...just now I looked at the week we are going in October...the cheapest package for a Strip hotel is with CC...£948 per person - so £1896 for 2...assuming no discounts on flights - £589pp = £1178 total for flights...leaving £718 of the package price for the hotel (in theory).
At the current exchange rate that would be about $1400 for a week at CC.
Same week on CC website, no special offers checked - $549.
So $850 savings by booking direct (or spend the cash - you were anyway, and stay at a nicer hotel)
Other hotels include IP at £988pp (equal to about $1600 for the hotel)
Excalibur at £1009pp ($1680 for the hotel)
Venetian at £1468 ($3500 for the hotel)
To be fair, Wynn is £1298...so only about $2800 for the hotel...but $800 more than booking direct.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Hi to all, I have posted earlier saying I am going to Vegas next year to get wed, I have found this deal on the Virgin site just asking the many members on here whether or not it looks reasonable or should I just wait.
October 20. 2011
Virgin direct flight from Manchester
Hotel New York New York
2 Adults and 1 child
7 Nights
23kgs Luggage
Taxes included
Price: £2224.08
If anyone has any comments that would be great
We always take my son
I though child fares were slightly less than adults for under 12s, but dont quote me.
I wouldnt book that package, I would wait until Oct flights are released in Nov this year and then do a comparison.
We usually go away half term time and the flights during those weeks are usually the same as the weeks before and after if you book as soon as flights are released.
Ocasionally we have to get a flight on the fri before the half term starts on the monday to save a few quid.
Edit
How old is your child, I assume you know the child restrictions in vegas. If he/she wants to use a pool while you are there NYNY isnt your best option0 -
Septemberjaysus, reading that back it sounds like i'm pointing fingers or something - sorry stoneman, wasn't my intention
sometimes i type responses without thinking!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
SeptemberFor those of us that use the internet while we are in Vegas
Has anyone looked into the price of a USA PAYG dongle....
Would this be a cheaper way of getting internet access while abroad
PAYG dongles are fairly cheap in the UK Argos sell one for £25 with 3mb use and £15 credit.....Just wondering if there is a similar option available in the US....save paying hotel broadband fees:hello: LORRAINE :hello:0
