IMHO cash. Take what you need for the day and leave rest in the safe. Cant be doing with TCs.

Half cash, half TC's as your travel insurance will only cover around £250-300 in cash.

We don't find that TC's are a hassle. You can just use them like cash in shops and restaurants or change them at the cashier's cage.

With a passport. And a signature. And then you need to have Mrs Frog with you to buy something as you sensibly put half of them in her name.

And if youre bladdered, better to lose a bunch of notes than a bunch of TCs and your passport.

I agree most places take them.

I always seemed to find I tried to get rid of the TCs as fast as possible, and spend large notes on small purchases, getting change in cash.

Just my own 2p. Each to his or her own.

Read about this website on another thread (can't remember which) but it allows you to enter your dates for flights, then it tracks them and emails you when the price drops. I've only had a quick go so can't exactly recommend it but thought it might be of interest on here

    www.yapta.com
Cheers for that tingtong... prices appear to be US $ only unfortunately.

I suppose it depends on if the price drops in UK £ currency at the same time as it does in US $ :)

edit: or are you allowed to buy flights departing the UK from the US site? (eg. I know you can't use expedia.com in this country (which sells flights!) - not sure if that's the reason why though! :D )

I'm posting something that was forwarded to me. I won't be in the States this year, so cannot verify either the offer, or the website. Maybe someone else can do that. So, Caveat Emptor and all that, I did go through the first section and it seemed to work.

    1) Go to www.restaurant.com

    2) Buy a gift certificate for a restaurant you would like to eat at. In this example, I would like 4 x $25 gift certificates for Welcome to Orchidea, 12th Avenue, NY, which is being sold at a very reasonable $10 each.

    3) At the checkout screen, type in 'PLATE' as your promo code.

    4) Watch in amazement as your $100 worth of food for $40 is now available for $8.

    Valid before 31st July.

I'm going to cross post this in the NYC thread. Someone let us know how it goes :D

Edit: Just adding the following from Froggitt as it's quite important!

"This is fine. However be aware that you may only be allowed to redeem one of your $25 vouchers each month. Buying one $100 voucher - thats fine. You must meet the eligibility eg buy two main courses, spend over $200 etc. "

Everyone here uses r.com vouchers. Search this thread, and last years, for recommendations eg Mon ami Gabi, Origin India. Also tripadvisor for recommendations.

Make sure you buy the vouchers using a code for upto 80% off.

Heres my own recommendation for everyone.........

    Rosemarys.
    8125 W. Sahara Ave.
    Las Vegas, NV 89117

is rosemary's far away from the strip? we are staying in mgm then onto encore. a taxi ride away would be fine but we wont be hiring a car.

    thanks x
