I need to be near the Bellagio though and if i leave/left booking the imperial palace until nearer the time and they are booked up or work out more expensive then i will be really annoyed....... not sure what to do now :(

Very very unlikely it would be full, and there are other cheap options nearby, Harrahs, Bills, Flamingo, Ballys.

Unless there is a major convention in town I dont think hotels ever sell out, there are more hotel rooms in Vegas than any other city in the world

The advantage of booking direct is,you only pay the first night as a deposit, it is normally fully refundable so if the price goes down you can give them a call and they will reduce your nightly rate, that way you can book and secure your room safe in the knowledge that you will get the cheapest rate if you keep looking

I think - could be wrong - that booking direct with IP on the Friends & Family deal works out almost the same as the cityandshow booking for your dates (at the current exchange rate).

So if you could cancel cityandshow, you could rebook direct for about the same money (at present exchange rate of course)...then look closer to the time if there's anything better out there...if so, cancel and rebook...if not, you haven't lost anything unless there's a big shift in the exchange rate (always some risk there).

That said, I can understand wanting to pay for the hotel up front - if that helps your finances and it's better to do it that way then I get that.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    So torn.

Trying to decide on hotels for October - have decided (I think) last 3 nights at Wynn (or Encore, don't know yet if the booking would include an upgrade or not)...it's kind of killing me to pay so much (relatively speaking) to stay there as the stay includes a Friday - the night of the Garth show we're seeing - but it makes sense...so options are.

Bally's + Wynn is the baseline.

    +$55 for Paris
    +$59 for PH (Hollywood Hip)
+$178 for Caesars (Forum Tower-newest renovation I think)
+$218 for Caesars (Palace Tower-possible Augustus Tower upgrade as only one step?)

Anyone care to wade in with 'what I would do' commentary? I kind of think we may end up at Bally's as we know we like it there. I don't think that we would go for Paris as while we enjoyed our stay, we prefer Bally's...so would be silly for us to stay at Paris when it's cheaper to stay at Bally's...I think.

    Too many options! :)

I haven't stayed at Caesars so couldn't say if it's worth the extra or not. For me it would be Bally's North tower or PH.

I would definitely have gone for PH, but have heard that the rooms are beginning to get a bit shabby, which is a bit off-putting. The storage is quite limited too. The bathrooms are enormous though. Tony loves the baths in there.

well if you cancel without penalty , you will still be able to cancel when something better comes along . no harm in keeping the booking for now .:)

keep regular tabs on the deal pages listed in post 1 .

You don't pay extra for kids in the room so long as they are using existing bedding (ie you get a room with 2 double beds and the kids sleep in the same bed). If this would cause war and you need a rollaway you'll be charged for it.

An idea on hotel budget might help in suggesting suitable hotels however if budget is a major concern I'd suggest the Orleans as great for kids -bigger rooms and very easy and free to get to the Strip.

Do you want a hotel with a casino -bearing in mind at all the hotels you have to walk the kids through the casino to get anywhere ?

You could also look at apartments if a kitchenette is important to you with kids

Is a great pool important to you ?

Really we need more info to suggest anywhere.

Personally I wouldn't take a 3 year old to Vegas -and probably not an 8 year old-I'm guessing you know about the restrictions though and the kind of "adult" sights they will see.

    Thanks to all the advice.
Taking the kids as were getting married out there. After Vegas were travelling to San Francisco via san diego,LA, and Yoshemite.
I know Vegas isnt really the best place for kids but we thought it would be a good place to get married and have a holiday at the same time. Weve both been to Vegas before, i thought that during the day the kids will love the swimming pool, m amd m world and some rides/circus circus. Noticed there isnt a waterpark any longer. At night go for meals before putting the little ones to bed. Some nites were stay in and then get the grandparents to look after them a couple of nights.
Sometimes i have my reservations but weve booked our flights now. Looking towards MGM as stayed there before but they only cater for one child per room. Excalibur is an option as kid friendlier and cheaper but getting married. May change hotels half way through but this also has its downside as having to pack up again.
Anyone here taken the children to Vegas to get married?

Planning a 4 or 5 night trip for 3 'ladies' to ce;ebrate a 40th. There were going to be 4 of us but now it looks like it will be 3 which makes the room arrangements a bit more challenging!

Have been looking at suites but they all seem to either have a king size and a sofa bed wheras we really want 2 queens and a sofa bed, or are off strip and not part of a casino or really expensive.
So, one option would be to get a larger sized room and ask for a camp bed but I believe they charge per night extra for the bed and it might be a bit cramped. Plus not sure who would get the camp bed!

Another option would be 2 rooms but we'd want these to be adjoining from a feeling safe point of view and so one of us isn't stuck on their own. What are the chances of getting this guaranteed?? Can get 2 rooms at New York New York for $606 in total for 5 nights on an intro promo offer.
Is there anywhere else that migh compare to this in terms of hotel type/ price that we should consider?

Have been to Vegas many times with my husband and stayed at MGM and NYNY the last few times so happy with that standard of hotel and location but would consider any other suggestions! We stayed at NYNY in Dec 2007 on our last visit and have spent a lot of time at the casino, restaurants and bars etc there on all our visits which is why it appeals but wondered if it still has the same atmosphere nearly 3 years on. Anyone stayed or been there recently?

Finally(!) flights from London are the same at present for 4 or 5 nights, direct with Virgin £515, with BA £527 and indirect with Continental via Houston £455. Is that about as cheap as its gonna get do you think? Anybody got any beter prices at the 12 week prior to departure point when they supposedly drop??

    Thanks in advance! :)

24 hour buffet pass price has risen again. $39.99 for TR members and $45.99 for others. I don't think it's worth bothering with at all now.
