Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Combo Breaker Xmas Saver!
    March
Next trip is all but booked seats are on hold with Delta.
Airfare is crazy this Easter -last year we paid £330 each (for Easter last year-this year just before Easter) -this years it's £450 plus so using miles instead. Hotels are still high too so playing a waiting game for now-it'll be 2 nights on Strip and the last night at the Sun Coast as I have friends there and we're all attending the same show on the Sunday so might as well stay and use their free shuttle to the airport the next day even though I have comps at Rio and Harrahs that night. No comps for the weekend nights but it's nice Harrahs are finally offering me something.

Our trip for June is slowly taking place.
So far we've got 2 hotels booked, 5 nights at MGM Grand ($500), then 7 nights at Signature ($1100ish)
Currency booked at 1.67 with Crown for delivery in May.
Just need to sort flights, but waiting until next month after I have miles added to my BA account for a return to Nairobi then i should have enough to save quite a bit on a return to LAX with a flight to Vegas around $70 each and a hire care to LAX at the end of the trip for £35

I noticed a similar price hike even with an improvement in the exchange rate since last year, I was hoping for it to go down before booking our trip in Easter, but this is looking less likely.

I'm looking at booking with US Airways from Manchester.

Steff just read your report, thanks.

Noticed on tripadvisor that you are from Leeds...Off topic I know but do you support Leeds? If so watch out we are catching you. I have a season ticket at Norwich.

In theory - of course! But in practice - I have only been to Elland Road once..... My OH is from Ireland, so he is not that into them, however, my brother (and my boss for that matter) is a HUGE Leeds fan - as a team they are getting there - its no longer quite as embarrassing when I say I am from Leeds!!

I go to Vegas next year on 30 June till 14 July, so I will be baking too! Cannot wait. I adore the heat there - 119 was the high there during the same time in 2008. We saw some AMAZING thunder storms...
If I can find the photos again, I will edit this and post em.

TO ALL - Does anyone have any suggestions/tips/experience about alternative options (to One Roam & Jolt) to getting Sim cards in Vegas to keep in contact with other half whilst over there AND calling home? He plays poker so much that we really need to keep in touch with each other!

    Steff;)

Im going to be booking the Flamingo today through Hotels.com (so i can get cashback).
There is a 10% off booking voucher on there, which when i input it, the 10% comes off no problem.

But this little bit of info is in the T&C's
Discount codes or coupons ("Coupons") may be used to book a hotel (excluding bookings for any Harrah's, MGM, Starwood or Marriott hotels) with Hotels.com on the website https://www.hotels.co.uk.

Now, as i say, the money comes off when i put the code in. But would this bit in the T&C's make my booking invalid?
(As Flamingo is part of Harrah's)

    Thanks.

hard to say . but if they are taking the money off now , then i doubt they will notice later . i remember they (hotels.com) priced up the Wynn wrong a few years back and people got some cheap deals that were never pulled up .

i wouldn't worry about The Flamingo , all they will see is a booking so they would not be very likely to flag anything up

worst they (hotels.com) could do is cancel your booking and give you a full refund i suspect .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Not so easy anymore unless it's your main account (which it doesn't sound like it would be in the OP's case)...many people won't qualify.

If you're not going to use your new FlexAccount as your main account, you can only apply if you meet one or more of the criteria below:

I currently have, or have been approved for, a Nationwide mortgage

I currently have, or am investing, £2,000 or more in a Nationwide savings account

I am aged 16-21 or transferring from a Nationwide Smart account

I already have an existing FlexAccount which I pay my salary or pension into

    I am opening an e-Savings, e-Savings Plus or e-Bond

I have both the debit and CC, my only worry is that NW may put a block on my A/Cs if I try to use it in Vegas. Do I contact them in advance and tell them that I'm in Vegas between dates x and y?
