also to add to tipping discussion .

    Taxi's around 10% ( if a short fare a couple of $'s)

If it's a short fare we tip more as they may have missed out on a longer journey and a bigger tip. We once moved from the Bellagio to Planet Hollywood and I think the fare was $4 something. I tipped 30% and the taxi driver went off his head and made me feel really bad.

We moved from the MGM to the Carriage House this trip and the fare was only $4.70. The driver didn't complain about the short journey so I gave him $10 and told him to keep it so that was a 100%+ tip.

Our last trip back to the airport I tipped 20% and the driver said, "Call that a tip!" He hadn't done anything special, just got us there in one piece which is what I was paying for. Instead of getting upset as I usually do, I just retorted, "Is 20% not good enough?!".

as for Maids we tend to leave all our loose change and a few bucks at the end of our stay . plus any odd unused vouchers and freebies. i even left a unclaimed cashout voucher once because i forgot about it and had no time to get up to the strip and cash it before our flight .

others who play Blackjack or Roulette ect will advise on tipping Croupiers . i tend to tip poker dealers a few bucks ( unless i am out very early )

We are like you with the maids unless we ask for more body lotion etc and then we leave more and on the last day they get a coffee maker:D.

Roullette and poker tables (not tournys or hold em cash tables) I tip a few chips every time I win.

    No Resort Fee!

Thanks very much for this. Still seems to be working today so hoping to book this soon. Just one question...a West Wing King room is coming out at just a few dollars more than a Grand Tower Room, are the west wing king rooms generally thought to be better?

    Thanks :)

I agree that a standard tip is 15% for restaurants...I just find it easier to leave 20% in most cases and since generally we get such great service in Vegas it's worth it to me - plus I'm on holiday and tend to be overly generous. As for the maids, I understand that they have a decent wage for non-skilled work, but I suppose I just really appreciate anyone who does the job that they do and $3/day to me isn't much given how much we throw in slot machines...plus they usually leave extra soaps once they realise I am taking all of them home to use in our loo (today we're using Wynn's glycerine soap :)). We also normally leave our loose change at the end of our trip and a coffee maker.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

It should work up till 8pm tonight.

The WW rooms are more modern. However they are much smaller thant the Grand Tower rooms and only have a small window above the bed.

The bathroom is quite small with a glass door so not much privacy, but that shouldn't be a problem for a couple.

Pictures of the Grand Tower rooms HERE Haven't come across prictures of the WW rooms yet.

Funkyfin2000 stayed in a West Wing room last year and was happy enough with it and I think DavidMcG stayed in one too.

Roullette and poker tables (not tournys or hold em cash tables) I tip a few chips every time I win.

Blackjack tipping - whenever I get a Blackjack ie 3/2, I always put the "extra bits" (say a $5 table, I'd put $2.50 for the dealer) in front of my box for the dealer for my next hand. If it wins, he/she doubles up, if not, c'est la vie.

Poker tipping - tourneys - generally theres a chip addon at registration eg another 2,000 chips for an extra $10, and all the $10 go to the dealer tip pool. Youre also meant to tip the dealer at the last table when you win, so say you win a grand, Id guess a $50 is appropriate.

    WEST WING ROOMS

Wow, thanks Luci, I can't believe the Grand Tower rooms are cheaper than the west wing rooms! Grand Tower definitely looks better IMO.

    Cheers

Tingtong, may I ask what things you did in San Diego? We're going for just one night enroute to LA (spending 7 days in LA) but I've been to LA so many times I think San Diego may be a good change. We are now thinking of re-arranging our days to spend a little more time in San Diego

Wow, those look almost as big as Bally's rooms...interesting.
