Nothing would possess me to stay in the Circus Circus. Whilst it's on the strip it's a long long way away from the best bits. You shouldn't have to pay that much more for somewhere like Excalibur or Imperial Palace and you'd be so much better positioned.

    Cheers,

    Billy

Thanks will check them out, a friend of mine recommended the Stratosphere, but i've heard it's right at the end of the strip?
To be honest i'd be happy bedding down in the desert if it meant i was still in vegas!:rotfl:

Dont do Strat or CC - both are not really walking distance frmo the main part of the strip.

I saw a deal earlier up for Luxor $30something - do that over both of those two.....not worth saving a dollar or two for rubbish location IMHO.

I am really hacked of with Harrahs though, we went to PlanetHo to get our cards changed over from A list to TR and we had read that as I am a Gold A list I would get a Diamond TR card, well they lied, so all that effort we put in the past to get status has been wipped out.

"I played craps 2 hours a night for 6 nights average bet $100 at PlanetHo, my host said that I didn't even have enough for a sandwich. I placed my gold card on the counter in front of him and said that I would never play there again, and walked out."

You should never stuck to your word!

can be a false economy staying at Circus Circus or The Stratosphere due the price of getting to and from the main action on the strip .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Okay, i have found a quote for my holiday.

Flying from London Gatwick to Vegas (Non-stop)
10 nights in the Circus Circus
    Mar 7th- Mar 17th 2011.
    £761 pp

    Is this a good deal?

    With Virgin by the way.

Havent booked it as we aren't sure if A: its a good deal or B: if we want to go in March yet.

You need to book early for March as that's when March Madness in on for a couple of weeks, college basketball which is big in Vegas, draws huge crowds and pushes up room rates. However I think it is later in the month.

Just checked and it is 17 Mach to 4 April next year.

I agree, don't stay at CC unless there really is no other option. You will be a minimum of $14/day for a bus pass for both of you so you might as well use that towards a better hotel.

I would recommend Imperial Palace or Excalibur instead. Both are not much more, far better located and much better hotels.

Price flight and hotel separate and remember that the hotel rate is for the room and not per person. The Exalibur has a $9.95 daily resort fee.

Check Hot Deals on https://www.harrahs.com for the IP. Search this thread for Excalibur to see what kind of rates are possible.

    hi all
thanks for all your help so far in choosing a hotel. i went away and investigated the hotels you all suggested but since having my baby ive become unable to make a decision so im still not sure. am driving my other half mad as spend all night online researching it all lol!!
i think monte carlo is the fav as the right price for us and central but have some reviews saying its furthwr away than you think from the action and that the building work next door (is that still on?) is a nightmare as dust, dirt and noise ruin the stay
i would LOVE to go to the venetian even in all its tacky glory but i have read many reviews saying they pump an old womens perfume smell through the aircon really strongly and the rooms are tired looking!!

i do try to take reviews with a pinch of salt as what one person likes another may hate but it is always a little concerning when the same comments come up again and agin on different sites and different people.

any ideas if these comments are true or not? the last two im considering are nyny and paris.

its soooooo difficult when we dont have a lot of money and this is gonna be our only special holiday away (a break from the baby too) for a long long time so in case u think im neurotic i just want it to be so special.

p.s now our wedding plans here are potentially falling through im thinking of having a wedding there instead just us two - is that the done thing in the hotels or are u expected to have guests? i know the chapels etc do ceremonies for two but was wondering where would be nice and not awkward?

i know im really demanding of all ur knowledge!!! sorry :)

    kate

I think the Monte Carlo will be fine for you. The construction at City Center is finished so the comments about dust are out of date. The location is fine. Don't understand the comments about it being far from the action.

I just posted a Mont Carlo offer a couple of posts up, but it is only available for 72 hours. I think they have a resort fee.

Yes there is a perfume smell as you walk into the Venetian, but it's never bothered us. It's nothing major and certainly not a reason not to stay there. You can't smell it in the rooms anyway.

As for the rooms being tired looking. Yes they are a few years old, but we found them to be in good order. If you are reading reviews on TA bear in mind that our American cousins describe anything more than 6 months old as tired and worn just because they aren't brand spanking new.

Paris is a nice hotel, but usually quite expensive compared to a lot of others.

No problem just being the two of you getting married. It's very common in Vegas. I would imagine the hotel wedding chapels would be more expensive than the independent chapels and can't see why that would be worth it if there are just two of you and no guests.

You could email the hotel chapels you are interested in for prices. The other should have prices on their website.

the mother in law decided to stay at circus circus last year for our wedding because she is tighter than a ducks !!!!. everyone else was down at the luxor and having a great time round the pool, in the casino, meeting for dinner/lunch etc etc while she was stuck up in that dump because it was $29 a night rather than the $49 we all got the luxor for. she done nothing but whinge about feeling left out, but we tried to tell her before she booked it, but for her the deciding factor was teh price rather than anything else

Just got back today after 5 nights in San Diego and 7 nights in Vegas. Will do some sort of 'summary' report when I get chance and will also be offering up some free Restaurant.com vouchers (later on if I can stay awake).

Got to say though, San Diego is the nicest city we have ever been to - try and add it to your places to visit when you are next in the US.

That's interesting - which US airport did you first land at? I know LAX isn't requiring the forms anymore - and on another thread someone said they didn't have to fill them out in Philly.

We arrived in Philly too. There was nothing said at all.
