    June
Hi guys i think I asked before but can't find it.

I am off on the 12th June and there for three full days. I would like to see the grand canyon and do the helicopter boat possibly skywalk. Where is the best place to book?

I am hoping to do it in about 7 hours and then be free for something else in the same day.

I will be making a lil timetable up shortly of other things and have been keeping my eyes on the thread.

Just so you know we are staying in cc for one night and then to the Hilton. I know cc ismnot as good butmwe used some rci points for all our hotels on this trip..
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.

    hi all
thanks for all your help so far in choosing a hotel. i went away and investigated the hotels you all suggested but since having my baby ive become unable to make a decision so im still not sure. am driving my other half mad as spend all night online researching it all lol!!
i think monte carlo is the fav as the right price for us and central but have some reviews saying its furthwr away than you think from the action and that the building work next door (is that still on?) is a nightmare as dust, dirt and noise ruin the stay
i would LOVE to go to the venetian even in all its tacky glory but i have read many reviews saying they pump an old womens perfume smell through the aircon really strongly and the rooms are tired looking!!

i do try to take reviews with a pinch of salt as what one person likes another may hate but it is always a little concerning when the same comments come up again and agin on different sites and different people.

any ideas if these comments are true or not? the last two im considering are nyny and paris.

its soooooo difficult when we dont have a lot of money and this is gonna be our only special holiday away (a break from the baby too) for a long long time so in case u think im neurotic i just want it to be so special.

p.s now our wedding plans here are potentially falling through im thinking of having a wedding there instead just us two - is that the done thing in the hotels or are u expected to have guests? i know the chapels etc do ceremonies for two but was wondering where would be nice and not awkward?

i know im really demanding of all ur knowledge!!! sorry :)

    kate

we got married with just the 2 of us . didn't even book it just showed up at the wedding chapel and asked to be married . people back home could watch on the internet .

there is no such thing as the "done thing" in Vegas . The done thing is to do what you want to do . there is no dress code for walking around the Casino or going to a show . a few restaurants ask for smart casual , but most don't care . only really night clubs that have a dress code .

I am putting some addresses into Tomtom for when we go on Monday. Can anyone tell me the best place to park at Downtown, so I can put that in?

not sure of where to park downtown (think casino's charge but you can get your cashback by visiting a booth in the casino).

    Whatever you do, don't forget Tingtong's TomTom POI's from post #4! :)

We normally park at the lot across from Main Street Station...there is a charge, but you can get the ticket validated at the cage so it's free if I remember correctly (last time the gate was up and no tickets were coming out of the machine so we didn't have to worry about it). Looking at googlemaps it's probably more or less 301 North Main Street, Las Vegas, NV 89101

We've also used valet at MSS and that was fine.

this might be helpful though it doesn't have addresses.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Okay, i have found a quote for my holiday.

Flying from London Gatwick to Vegas (Non-stop)
10 nights in the Circus Circus
    Mar 7th- Mar 17th 2011.
    £761 pp

    Is this a good deal?

    With Virgin by the way.

Havent booked it as we aren't sure if A: its a good deal or B: if we want to go in March yet.

It is going to be our first time there, we arent too fussed about the hotel as long as its on the strip and isnt too shabby (nor too luxurious as we are on a budget, the Bellagio will have to wait!)
Its for 2 people (me and the Boyf) and we have around £1500 to spend.
Could possibly push for a little bit more, but not too much.
Can fly from all london airports and would prefer non stop flights.

    Thanks

10 nights at Circus Circus??? I am one of the few on here that doesnt mind CC as the room in the main towers are ok BUT no way should you spend 10 nights there it would drive you mad as it is full of kids and the casino is "dirty"

It is also to expensive as CC can often be got for about $30 a night.

Virgin are usually one of the most expensive for packages.

Have you read page 1 of this thread and followed the links etc

Golden Nugget is fairly cheap and safe .

Sorry, that's one of the vouchers we actually used - nice food too (if a little pricey). Right, here's a list of the vouchers that I've got left over:

    Value Expiry Restaurant
    $50.00 8 Aug Aureole
$50.00 8 Aug Fleur De Lys
    $25.00 8 Aug AL'S GARAGE (Located @ GVR's "The District")
    $25.00 8 Aug Border Grill
    $25.00 9 Sep Cafe Heidelberg
$10.00 9 Sep ENOTECA San Marco (Venetian Hotel & Casino)
    $25.00 9 Sep Kil@Wat (The Platinum Hotel)
    $25.00 8 Aug Pampas Churrascaria
    $25.00 9 Sep Rosemary's Restaurant
    $25.00 9 Sep Rub BBQ

I also have a $25 voucher for Casa di Amore (9th June) but this was given to me by ferf so I need to check before handing this out.

As far as dishing them out, if anyone's interested PM me ASAP with 3 choices and I'll try and work it so everyone gets something they will use.

Further away from what action? I dont think there is to much if any building work still on I would imagine the report you read was reffering to the building of City Centre

Venetian is fantastic but price reflects it, My wife and I had an indoor gondola ride on our anniversary it was very good...Is it tacky ?

Blackpool is tacky and there is absolutely no comparison between Blackpool and Vegas.

I am a non smoker and most casinos smell of cigarette smoke and my clothes do after a few hours at the tables, where as Venetian does smell of whatever they pump through the air con which you will either like or not, but IMO is better than cigarette smoke.

NYNY is further away from "centre strip" just to add as someone else did everything is further than you think in VEgas as it is so BIG...It can take 15 minutes just from your room to the strip if you are staying at MGM...or longer than that if you are self parked in the ginormous garage

I like Paris especially as I have got a room overlooking the Bellagio fountains with $20 tip both times I have stayed there.

I have forgotten what your original criteria was tho, Pool, central, price etc.

There is NOT a bad hotel anywhere between Mandalay Bay And Encore on the strip, just some not so good as others altho I havent stayed in them all, I have stayed in alot and I think I said before between us we prob have stayed in just about everyone of them and I dont think anyone will tell you there is a bad hotel among them.

One other thing to mention quickly is the new ACE Gold Line bus service was superb. I vowed never to use the Deuce again but this is totally different. No big queues, nice, cool, clean air con buses and really quick to get around. 5-day unlimited pass for $20 (you can use it on the Deuce and local buses too).

Just be careful as the passes start as soon as you buy them from the ticket vending machine at the bus stop (so don't buy one if you're not going to use it right away). However, if you get your pass from the South Strip Transfer Terminal, they don't get validated at time of purchase. We bought a 3-day pass and used it for 2 days before someone told us it had not been validated - so we managed to get 5 days out of it. I'm not recommending this, as you may get fined, but we didn't.

Here's the route map, incase you've not seen previous links:
