You DO know that if you're still under 21 when you go you're not only not able to drink or gamble but also if your OH is gambling you can't even stand and watch ?

If you will be 21 by the time you go -be prepared to be ID'd lots-they are red hot about it in all the casinos

Good to see so many people concerned over whether Realised will be old enough to appreciate Vegas.

She did say a few days ago that she was going to Vegas for the first time for her 21st so I'd say she is fully aware of things.

Is the Goldfish slot still the most popular in Vegas?

Walking from MGM, the Hawaiian Marketplace is before you get to Planet Hollywood and in front of Polo Towers. It is just after a row of shops that are set back a little and has a Walgreens at the end of it.

I suppose it's a similar size to the marketplace where Carnaval Court is. There are a few shops and restaurants and stalls selling a range of items such as jewellery, bags, hats, clothes, trinkets and souvenirs etc. There is also a stage circled by tables and chairs, under a canopy giving some welcome shade on a hot day. In the afternoons there are bands playing - we saw one playing Latin American music, another doing a mix of pop/rock and my favourites were the Love Brothers singing soul and motown. I just loved the atmosphere there and found it a great place to sit and relax with a cold drink, listening to the music and to people watch.:)

Now you've said where it is I think I have been there. We stay at NYNY so its not too far away, I don't think I'd realised what it was called and I don't think there was any music on at the time we passed through (thats what caught my attention when you mentioned it).

I've always enjoyed the live bands at Harrahs and also love watching the bartenders shaking the cocktails!

Yep I am going to Vegas on the night of the 25th July (Driving from Phoenix) and it's my birthday on the 26th. Btw, Will my driving license be an ok form of ID? I read in the posts before that in some places they won't accept it. I'm not too bothered about clubs etc but I don't really fancy carrying my passport around everywhere

I've been to America 3 times before and it's horrible knowing I could drink etc in England but suddenly went back a few years when I was in the States (my OH would always rub that in my face!) Which is why I am really excited and think Vegas is the perfect way to spend my 21st!

Edit: Thank you all for your ideas on hotels in San Diego. We weren't originally planning to go but theres a comedy act on that night which we would really like to see. After San diego we are moving onto LA for a couple of days before heading back home.

    hi guys
thanks for the advice you've already given me a few pages back. to answer your questions the cheapest price that i can find for flights per person is £569 so so nearly £1140 in flights but i can find the flights plus the strasopshere from 27th aug-4th sept on last minute dot com for £1121

this is my dilemma, we stayed at the strat before and found it fine, but this time is my honeymoon and i wanted something slightly nicer as its a treat although last time we didnt really spend a great deal of time in our room so dont wanna fork out for a plush suites and then never be there- just a nice room will do, not run down or noisy etc

this time i would like to be closer to the strip if possible, would like a pool if possible too.

heres the deals on last minute dot com that are within our budget - any advice on which hotel is best out of this selection or closer or if anything is a really good(or bad) price please let me know

27th august - 4th september (price incl flights from london heathrow)

    stratosphere - £1121
    monte carlo - £1295
    luxor - £1397
    excaliber - £1186
    flamingo - £1320
    imperial palace - £1185
    rio - £1349
new york new york - £1294
    ballys - £1325

any advice on the hotels would be so gratefully recieved as im in a quandry!

    thanks
    kate

Just ordered £1250 worth of dollars @ $1.578 for our August trip.
Don't think we would get anything better by waiting.
Thanks to Luci for the post.

Firstly, lastminute.com is NOT the cheapest for all flight + hotel deals. they may have come up cheapest for flight + strat, but are dearer for other hotels.

Personally i'd go for 1 day less 27th - 3rd and for less than 1400 all in you could get Venetian, Vdara, Aria, and the usual others MGM,PH, mirage, Paris etc

from the above . Rio is off strip so unless you are okay with that , cross that one off .

Imperial palace would not be considered treating yourself IMO

expensive ( when compared with others on the list ) = Ballys and Flamingo BUT Flamingo does have a superb pool and is centre strip .

New York New York is a very nice place to stay BUT has a small pool only .

Monte Carlo more center than the Luxor , and the major construction next door should be easing off .

would choose Trashy castle (AKA The Exaclibur ) over The Strat but would choose Luxor over Excalibur . but not at the price quoted above .

    clear as mud . ???

me personally NYNY from that list , if you are okay with the pool (type it into google images if you want to see it ) . if not go for the Flamingo or Monte Carlo
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Just reread your point about not wanting anything really fancy in that case Monte Carlo for best value

Out of your list i would go for the Monte Carlo, it has a great pool and at those prices is much better value than most.

In fact as it is your honeymoon I would forget all of those except Monte carlo and NYNY.

Having said that i would prob be looking for something better still, Venetian, Pallazzo, Wynn, Encore, Bellagio, Caesers Palace (in the right room),of course it may come down to money in the end and if the flights stay that high a price it may be better booking one of the packages you have found.

Just reread your post about not wanting anything to fancy, That brings me back to the Monte Carlo for best value, You can usually get a suite at the MC for a $20 tip at check in
