Lastly, slightly off topic here but we're also thinking of going to San Diego for a night because theres a show we'd like to see at the Humphreys Concerts by the bay. Has anyone ever been there? Does anyone know of any hotels nearby? I can't seem to distinguish the name of the area

    Thanks!

Humphreys is a hotel, Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites, on Shelter Island http://www.halfmooninn.com/index.cfm - we stayed there last year and loved it. The concert venue is adjacent to the hotel.
They have a complimentary shuttle to/from San Diego airport, which is about 10 mins away.

ETA: It would be an excellent place to 'chill out' for a couple of days, we loved Vegas but it was slightly insane!

Just been to Casa di Amore for a meal. It was really good, the best meal we've had there in 3 visits. The limo pick up is a nice touch.

Sunday and Monday are half price wine nights and they have a lounge singer which adds to the atmosphere.

I had a restaurant.com certificate for $25 so that covers the limo tip.

OK, getting ready for our trip tomorrow and the good thing is that BA will be on strike while we are out there:beer:
I think that probably they will keep the LAS service running as they did last time, but here is hoping they don't:D
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

We were in a Celebrity Spa Suite at MGM which I think is a little bigger than the Bungalow suite, or having a jacuzzi may be the difference. You can see the different suites on the MGM site.

I had read on TA that they were old and worn, but ours was in good order. Not modern and it had a CRT TV instead of a flat screen, but we had no complaints.

It was huge. Large bedroom area, large sitting area with sofa, armchair and desk and huge bathroom with jacuzzi, separate shower and twin sinks.

It was only $30 more than a Grand Tower room and definitely worth the extra.

I think they only come with king beds so no use if someone is looking for 2 queen beds.

The BA flight due in at 18.50 tonight was due to arrive at 21.35.

There are 54mph winds tonight and the airport is down to one runaway. It is set to be windy for the next couple of days. Temps much lower than normal in the late 70's.

I looked at the weather and it looks like nearly 100 by the weekend.
All flights are taking a bit longer at the moment because they have to go around the dust cloud

The BA flight wasn't as bad as the Virgin one. It was about 7.5 hours late in arriving.

Were you looking at Ka tickets? The code is different for each show I think...the code is at the top of the page listing the dates available for each particular show (i.e. for Love the code was Mirage - so may always be the name of the hotel/casino where the show is). The 25% off deal may or may not be the same - when I looked for Love tickets it was more like 40% off through the Summer of Cirque offer.

Thanks Ferf, was looking at Love so your advice should now save me a little bit more on the price!!

Thanks for the trip report, very interesting, could you tell me where the Hawaiian Marketplace is and a bit more about it.

    Thanks

I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask for directions to anywhere but I'll give it a go in the hope that someone will correct me if I get it wrong.:rotfl:

Walking from MGM, the Hawaiian Marketplace is before you get to Planet Hollywood and in front of Polo Towers. It is just after a row of shops that are set back a little and has a Walgreens at the end of it.

I suppose it's a similar size to the marketplace where Carnaval Court is. There are a few shops and restaurants and stalls selling a range of items such as jewellery, bags, hats, clothes, trinkets and souvenirs etc. There is also a stage circled by tables and chairs, under a canopy giving some welcome shade on a hot day. In the afternoons there are bands playing - we saw one playing Latin American music, another doing a mix of pop/rock and my favourites were the Love Brothers singing soul and motown. I just loved the atmosphere there and found it a great place to sit and relax with a cold drink, listening to the music and to people watch.:)

You DO know that if you're still under 21 when you go you're not only not able to drink or gamble but also if your OH is gambling you can't even stand and watch ?

If you will be 21 by the time you go -be prepared to be ID'd lots-they are red hot about it in all the casinos
