wow thanks for all your help so far.
have looked at a few of the suggested places i.e monte carlo (thanks photome) and nyny (thanks trets) and they both look like the sort of thing i want
if i had more money available i would def go to one of the better hotels but then that eats into our budget for the whole trip and i would rather do lots of things and go to nice places while we're there. im not a traditional honeymoon type girl anyhow!!
im nervous about booking it at all now as the volcano saga is still continuing and no one knows if a second one will erupt or not. feel like thats a big decision factor as i know no-one will insure against it etc etc!! still am 90% set on going!
if i leave it closer to the time before i book-will the price go up or down normally?
off to do more research on nyny and monte carlo now!!
thanks again

I am going on Aug 23rd and not worried abouth the volcano but I have booked flights with Virgin independently of the hotels.
Therefore Virgin should cover me/ refund etc if things go wrong.
As for hotels if booked direct you can cancel up to the day before so you will never lose much if worst comes to worst, of course things are different if booking a package (not sure if lastminute.com is a package) but not sure exactly how you are covered.0 -
hi guys
thanks for the advice you've already given me a few pages back. to answer your questions the cheapest price that i can find for flights per person is £569 so so nearly £1140 in flights but i can find the flights plus the strasopshere from 27th aug-4th sept on last minute dot com for £1121
this is my dilemma, we stayed at the strat before and found it fine, but this time is my honeymoon and i wanted something slightly nicer as its a treat although last time we didnt really spend a great deal of time in our room so dont wanna fork out for a plush suites and then never be there- just a nice room will do, not run down or noisy etc
this time i would like to be closer to the strip if possible, would like a pool if possible too.
heres the deals on last minute dot com that are within our budget - any advice on which hotel is best out of this selection or closer or if anything is a really good(or bad) price please let me know
27th august - 4th september (price incl flights from london heathrow)
stratosphere - £1121
monte carlo - £1295
luxor - £1397
excaliber - £1186
flamingo - £1320
imperial palace - £1185
rio - £1349
new york new york - £1294
ballys - £1325
any advice on the hotels would be so gratefully recieved as im in a quandry!
thanks

p.s ive read almost this whole thread and boy do u lot know everything about vegas - think i'll be on here loads before i go pestering you even more
Just had a quick look on Expedia Kate, if you could do 27th - 3rd, you can get the Venetian for £1373 with a further 3.5% cashback if you go through Quidco. The flights are from Heathrow, 1 stop with Continental/United and the return doesn't leave Vegas until 23.25 so you would have a full final day there. Just a thought0 -

Thanks Luci - I bought £500 worth for my trip in August - slightly better than the deal I got back in February, and I'll be using some of that cash in Dallas in a couple of weeks:DThe force is strong in this one!0 -
January , FebruaryHave you considered the Carriage House? It's on Harmon, 5 mins from the Miracle Mile. No casino and the one bedroomed suite is $79 at the moment. Separate bedroom and sofa converts to a queen bed. Full kitchen. Free internet. Laundry facilities.
Might as well post my hotel review here as repeat it!
If that doesn't appeal, I would second Bally's are the rooms are huge and it would be cheaper if you are all going to be in one room.
On second thoughts, it might not be cheaper if you have to pay the 3rd and 4th person supplement of $30pppn.
I really like the look of the Carriage House, excellent price too.
I will definately consider this - have you or anyone else stayed there?
Many thanksThe force is strong in this one!0 -

We are there at the moment! Didn't you see my review earlier? I posted it last night.
This is our second stay and we like it. The suite we have isn't modern, but it's really spacious and comfortable. It's like a one bedroom apartment.0 -

i read the last time this thing in iceland blew it's top , it kept going for 3 years ( back before they had planes ) . you cannot just put your life and holidays on hold because of it . the vast majority of people are now flying again , and it if you were exceptionally unlucky to be affected , then whatever will be , will be .
i'm sure there is plenty of discussion on the the travel board about sutiable travel insurance to cover .
Prices generally go up the closer to your dates as the planes get fuller BTWBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

Thats a good price as the venetian on offer is usually around $129 for weekdays and more for weekends so probably about £500 worth of hotel making flights about £440 each, less if you use quidco0 -
MayHi
I'm reporting in from Vegas, and would just like to share my thoughts so far (first time visiter).
We arrived on Sunday night after bringing forward our trip by two days. The journey was long and tiring and we flew indirect with Delta via Atlanta. Due to the ash cloud, the flight was delayed by 2 hours which meant we had 2 hours to meet our connection flight in Atlanta. Thought that would be ample, but the immigration line was long and slow and we had to reclaim our baggage and recheck it before we could go to the boarding gate and when we got to the boarding gate on our ticket, they had changed it to another terminal! We then had 25 mins to get to the other terminal and we made it with literally minutes to spare! The flight from the UK was fine, we went past Iceland (including the Volcano), Greenland, Canada and into the US. Some stunning views over Iceland and Greenland. The flight had IFE in the form of touch screens on the back of seats although it was really playing up. The internal flight was more basic, but fine none the less.
Our first two nights was in the Golden Nugget. Tried $20 trick but it didnt work. Room was large and clean but we were on 3rd floor so no view. As we arrived 1am Sunday, we just hit the sack. Monday was our first full day and we spent it by walking to and from the Premium Outlet store and having a wonder round freemont street. Had a $50 restaurant.com voucher for Hennesseys. Meal was ok nothing special. Freemont street was great and the lightshow fab, it's a must if you are visiting Vegas.
This morning (Tues) we came down to the Wynn. WoW!!! Room wasnt ready so we wondered round and had lunch in Grand Lux Cafe in Pallazzo, good food, large portions. Our room was ready at 2 and it is amazing. 58th floor, facing the strip, took our breathes away! Lovely bathroom, separate walk in shower, views outstanding. Rest of today we have just been walking and walking and walking. We we walked up to Planet Hollywood and back, popping into various hotels/casino's on the way back. I have taken a liking to Tai Pow Poker & Crazy 4 Poker, but finding limits quite high and money is disappearing quicker than we hoped, may have to rethink spends.
Tomorrow we are having a pool day & will be going to Casa Di Amore with limo pick and up & $25 cert so hopefully that'll be nice.
Saturday we check out of Wynn and move to MGM (wrong way round but much cheaper for some reason!) and we leave a week on Thursday (20th).
Will second what Luci said re Weather. Really windy, had a real chill walking back to hotel tonight, would even say we were cold! During the day it is much better and weather reports suggest the weekend could be really hot. There have been really severe tornado's in Oklahoma/Kansas so not sure if this is partly why Vegas is so windy. No point spending hours styling hair! Hope the wind calms down soon.
Could write loads more, but want to keep brief. If anyone has q's please ask. Not sure if I will pay another $13 for internet and this runs out this time tomorrow.0
