Me and the BF are thinking of going Las Vegas in either July or late September. We are planning to spend 7 nights in Vegas and then go on somewhere else for another 7 nights can anyone advice me what they have done when they have done multi centre places. Don't fancy going somewhere too busy after more of a nice place to relax sunbath with a nightlife. xxx
You can relax, sunbathe and enjoy the fantastic nightlife in Vegas, why go anywhere else?

Only multi centre I have done would include Grand Canyon, San Fran, LA, Yosemite etc but none of those are relaxing

Didn't see the Piers Morgan program last week - did he happen to show the MGM Mansion?

    He certainly did.

just apply for a nationwide flex account debit card and credit card , job done

Not so easy anymore unless it's your main account (which it doesn't sound like it would be in the OP's case)...many people won't qualify.

If you're not going to use your new FlexAccount as your main account, you can only apply if you meet one or more of the criteria below:

I currently have, or have been approved for, a Nationwide mortgage

I currently have, or am investing, £2,000 or more in a Nationwide savings account

I am aged 16-21 or transferring from a Nationwide Smart account

I already have an existing FlexAccount which I pay my salary or pension into

    I am opening an e-Savings, e-Savings Plus or e-Bond

    Anyone stayed at the Rio?

I usually go off strip to the Orleans(which is great and can usually be got for about $25 a night) but fancy a change.

The pool looks good at the Rio.

    Any opinions anyone.

ps i have been there for the buffet and seen the masquarade on the sky.

If you're OK off strip it's probably fine...we prefer to be on the strip and didn't really care for it...other than the off-strip thing, our negatives were:

    A) there was a minimum on the air-con - you couldn't set it below (I think) 65*...which in the hotter months in a room which gets the afternoon sun meant our room was way too hot for us...but then again, we tend to keep our hotel rooms rather like meat lockers and

    B) It was so loud in the casino...even really early in the morning when were there they had music absolutely blaring out of speakers everywhere. I haven't had coffee yet...I do not want to be anywhere that loud. :)

We had a nice room - it had a fridge and a coffee maker (they upgraded us to it, though, way before we even knew what a players club was)...I didn't think the bed was very comfortable...but it's been probably 5 or 6 years ago and would imagine that pebbles' experience with the rooms is way more accurate than ours.

The shuttles to the strip are fine - the shuttles back from the strip can be crowded (esp. the one at Paris).

We like Gold Coast and you'll be next to it - one of our must do's next trip is dim sum at Ping Pang Pong. And across from Palms - so in that way maybe more options than Orleans within walking distance.

This was my worry really, because i read some comments in another place which said exactly this.

My OH is worried about just taking cash, although that would be my preference, as we're travelling around a bit and he's convinced that he's gonna get carjacked or mugged at gunpoint!

Vegas is relatively safe. Spread your risk by leaving most cash in the room safe, split it between you and your OH, carry a muggers wallet ie a cheap one stuffed full one one dollar bills that you give up if mugged.

Or you can similarly get Amex TCs thru Crown and if they get mugged, you can get them replaced.

We don't normally take it all in cash - more for the potential risk of losing it than having it stolen. We do have a Nationwide FlexAccount (still have to thank pebbles for that advice years ago) and we take about 1/2 in cash, part on a FairFX card and part in our Nationwide account. We spend the cash first, then move onto the FairFX card and then use Nationwide for the rest...that way, whatever we don't use says in our account in the UK rather than ending up with dollars or a balance on FairFX...and that way, if something happens to the cash or one of the cards, we have access to funds elsewhere (also have our horrid fees bearing debit card for our main account if we need it). :)

But we have a daily budget that includes gambling and food and misc stuff during the day - so for us, putting everything on a card all the time doesn't really work as we each have our $x to spend and having cash is easier for us. It really depends on what you're comfortable with...what we do works well for us, but may not for others.

I remember reading about phones and SIM cards a while back but don't remember what it said. Does anyone know off the top of their head the best SIM card to take? Just want to have something in case I want to wander off from bf (or lose him!). Ebay seems to have quite a lot!

Well I've booked my trip out to Vegas and leave in 5 days so I am trying to sort out a few bits and pieces. Decided to stay at the MGM rather than the Mirage just due to the cost - Mirage was deceptive as had to add a daily fee on top of the room rate and seeing as the room will be a base we just didn't see the point. Any how with the money we have saved we want to use it for some shows so I thought that I would try and pick some brains on here. We've seen Phantom, KA and crazy horse last year (would recommend all but the later) and quite fancy O and Peepshow, but I am open to other suggestions.

Firstly I have read that O doesn't seem to offer any kind of discounts but I wondered if there is still the possibility of getting reduced priced tickets on the day at the box office? Has anyone been able to do this? I know there is a discount code with playbill and I can get 2 tickets for $225 plus tax for section 303 but I think I would like closer seats. I remember reading on here that someone was able to get 1/2 price BOGOF on KA at the box office so I dont know if this is wishful thinking for O.

Secondly I've had a look on ticketmaster for Peep show tickets but it comes up blank - not sure if it is sold out or not - anyone been to see it if so where did you get your tickets and what did you think?

Thanks in advance to any advice or any pointers.

You can get 25% off O ticket prices through the official Bellagio website..look on the right of their webpage. Just booked some. Section 303 would be $178 inc tax using this deal. Conditions are 10pm showings only and you can only book a month in advance.

I know it's short notice, and not sure that there would be any interest but 1/2 price tickets to the Las Vegas Cougar Convention on 22nd Jan are available at Goldstar.
