Yes having status is always a plus-makes getting those seats near the front for a fast exit much easier too.

I think you need to have silver status to get preferred seats through which is 50K miles (for Vegas 2 trips)

www.flyertalk.com is excellent too for earning more miles

    That's a good point - although I've never had a Nectar card (Tesco boy:D).

Another tip - works with Delta and probably others too. Join the frequent flyers programme and you can select your preferred seating on-line (obviously not exit etc.), but can get your party together and nearer the front, aisle or window and so on - use seatguru.com to see what's best/worst on your particular aircraft.

I've also used the members portal of the website to send messages and ask questions and found them helpful.

Thanks Duchy for responding, I was reading that from these posts above that I was unable to select our seats in advance seeing as we are not a member of the frequent flyers club (which we will join, makes sense). Hopefully the seats we have picked our ours, looks like a 2 - 4 - 2 formation, so we can have two seats togeher by a window (for the transatlantic leg at least).

i know a few people here have friends / family in the US (pebbles, ferf, duchy, stoneman... anyone else!?), so with that in mind, you may want to make use of these bargain giftcards for restaurants (not sure of validity period!)

    Alize $50 certificate for $12.50 (182 left)
Border Grill $50 certificate for $12.50 (161 left)

argh, this has torn me!!... we used to absolutely love eating @ Kahunaville (TI) but have been really disappointed with the food the last couple of times we went...

you used to get these vouchers when you were staying @ TI, however looks like they're available to all... not sure i'll do an evening meal there again (unless someone tells me its got super tasty in there again!!)

Secondly, as someone recently reported, it can be really good sitting in the bar in there with the cocktails flying around! - will definitely be using this one! :)

I'm not a fan of 3 x 3 either and as I'm on an award ticket this trip I know I won't get upgraded on the domestic flights unless the flights are horribly overbooked I got spoilt my last few trips as not only have Delta upgraded me due to status on the domestic flights but also on the transatlantic when overbooked a couple of times Ah well for a ticket that only cost £100 I can hardly moan :) especially as I have exit row seats

Very interesting - we haven't eaten there in a few years now (since they dropped out of restaurant.com) but loved the place previously...may be time for us to try them again with this voucher and we'll let you know how it goes. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks for that. Will have to check if they mail to Canada as we are going to Alize for my birthday.

    October , November
Received in an e-mail from Expedia:

"Your exclusive 15% voucher* can be used on your next Hotel booking. Your voucher is valid until 30/04/2010, for travel until the 31/08/2010!"

    BQ1W-XZ04-1BDE-6KMZ

Note, it does say 'exclusive' so unsure if it can be used more than once. I'm not going away till November so I hope it can be of use to someone else.
    Thank you all who post.

Hi - can anyone tell me if the big acts - Cher, Sting etc are likely to be discounted as I get closer to a date (or even once I get into town) or am I better to book now. It's no one I'm mad desperate to see but just fancy seeing a headliner whilst we're there in June.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chanty

Unlikely TBH -in your shoes I'd book now and get a better seat but if you want to take a gamble (and it is Vegas after all) you could wait knowing you *might* get a deal...you might not but you won't pay any more.
