I like the way you can use nectar points on expedia to bring the price down too

    That's a good point - although I've never had a Nectar card (Tesco boy:D).

Another tip - works with Delta and probably others too. Join the frequent flyers programme and you can select your preferred seating on-line (obviously not exit etc.), but can get your party together and nearer the front, aisle or window and so on - use seatguru.com to see what's best/worst on your particular aircraft.

I've also used the members portal of the website to send messages and ask questions and found them helpful.

Yes having status is always a plus-makes getting those seats near the front for a fast exit much easier too.

I think you need to have silver status to get preferred seats through which is 50K miles (for Vegas 2 trips)

www.flyertalk.com is excellent too for earning more miles

    Thanks duchy

I have a trip booked with them at the end of May to Dallas, so that'll rack-up a few.

I am also going to give them a ring to try to wangle an upgrade for this trip (travelling alone) as they left me stranded with no Vegas flight in February due to the snow in Atlanta. Worth a try anyway.

hi quick question - i travel 10th to 17th november and was thinking of staying at 2 diff hotels - -i fancy mgm but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to the hotel for the other 3 or 4 days?

i like the look of the mirage, new york new york & wynn but have yet to look at prices. i wont be booking until summer time unless an unbelievable deal comes along so just really researching at the moment

out of those 4 hotels - which 2 would you pick - our initial budget is around £600 for 2ppl sharing or £1200 for 2 couples in 2 rooms. do you have any suggestions to another hotel - if it suits better any1 can pm me

i would like something nice, clean & spacious - dont mind a bit of walking (obviously) but dont want to miss out on anything lol!

also i would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their posts, advice and links - without you i dont think i would have been able to afford vegas lol!!

finally good luck to all those getting married out there! lucky duckies xx

    all fine .

Wynn will obviously be the best choice if you want luxury and a super deluxe room .

Mirage rooms are smallish but nice : i have not stayed in the refurbed ones but i cannot see how they would bigger than before .a small bathroom would not stop me staying there again , but i have been lucky and had some super luxury bathrooms last few stays .
our room at the Mirage was clean and comfy . just no WOW factor due the age of Hotel . That said Mirage is a great place to stay , i would love to stay there again

NYNY room we had was fair size, comfy and again spotlessly clean . Like NYNY a lot due to it not being so huge and lots of fun to stay at .

MGM grand is usually a safe choice . the place is HUGE though . other will comment on the rooms they have had , but i don't remember any negative posts on this thread over the years .

Mirage and Wynn are very close together as are NYNY and MGM . i would pick either the Mirage or Wynn and then one of the other 2 , Not Mirage and Wynn together or MGM + NYNY together .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I have yet to miss a flight on one of these side trips -but hey if I did-what's the worst that could happen-I'd get booked onto the next flight

Would people without status just get booked onto the next flight though? If you were at the airport (which they know because they delivered you there on your first leg) and left? I'd just assumed that you would be out of luck with the airline being bound to get you to your destination if you missed the flight because you left the airport during your layover.

I would go for the Mirage, stayed there twice in the last year in the new rooms, use the $20 trick and you always get an upgrade to the tower rooms with a huge bathroom. Good selection of restaurants and really reasonably priced, unlike the Wynn where most are really expensive. There is a resort fee though, but includes internet and gym, so can actually be a bargain!! Mirage for me everytime, love the shows there too!!!

Agree with Trets - if you're going to move, make the move worthwhile - moving from MGM to NYNY is basically walking over the pedestrian bridge and Mirage/Wynn isn't much further between them...may as well have the move be a decent distance.

Wynn is awesome and you can find some good rates for them - especially as it looks like your last few nights will not include Friday/Saturday.

    Hi all

Well after my trip last October my partner and I have got the bug and can't wait to go again. Just in the process of sorting flights out and we would like to fly direct - best I can find is £460 flying with Virgin again in Oct using miles and cash - do you think this is the best deal I'll get and just go ahead and book?:)
