just about to scour the rest of MSE for this to see what my options are, but as a heads up, got a letter today from Nationwide saying some time between JUNE and SEPTEMBER, they're going to change my card to a 'Cash Card+' account

    DREADFUL NEWS :(

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/card-changes2.htm

See T&C's... they've basically analysed my use of the card and decided to 'ditch' me :(
Cash card+ cannot be used to withdraw money from cash machines abroad

edit: quick search and i can't find any posts on this elsewhere
edit2: actually, i'm just naff at searching! ;)

I'd read that and panicked but I have a debit card, not a cash card (I don't really understand why some people have one and others have the other)? But supposedly the debit card won't be affected...which made me quite happy - but it does suck for those with a cash card.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

wew . debit card here too.

Okay i do only really use this card and Account for our withdrawing cash abroad . i know this does not make Nationwide any profit , hence they want to get rid of the people who exploit it .

well i say it's fair game !!!. Nationwide had 2 good mortgage arrangement fees out of us in 5 years and they had exit fee of £90 when we thankfully moved to a Woolich tracker mortgage ( which has tracked the B of E base rate all the way down to 0.5% , unlike NW crappy tracker )

I did have the hindsight to set up a small monthly direct debit from this account just in case they tried to close the account for non use . they did half the overdraft limit a while back due to " lack of activity " though .

will be taking full advantage again in Spain in 2 weeks, and remember very fondly withdrawing $ in Maine at $2.10 to the £ for free in 2007 .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Could anyone tell me if you can still cash travellers cheques at the casino cages, I haven't been to Vegas since 2007 and just wanted to check.

...but not in Arizona if you venture out to the south rim of the GC ...... but while most of Arizona doesn't operate Daylight Saving, the Navajo nation does!! ...so check your times if venturing S/SE out of LV.

You're not looking at aa.com right-like I said before scroll down the list
I just hopped on there and found *this*

£670 per person sounds better than 2 K to me :)

28 March LHR LAX LAS leaves at 10.55 gets to Vegas 17.45

08 April LAS DFW LHR 14.10 arrives 10.45 next day
(you could also do an open jaw on this one and fly back from either SAN or LAX to London for the same money and skip the SW flight back to Vegas altogether. SW will give you credit on that leg usable for a year so you could use it next trip.

If you still can't see these fares PM me and I'll try and work out where you are going wrong :)

Yep I'm looking at aa.com. I think the problem is that I'm looking for 3 passengers. This afternoon the best I could find was £1536 for a 1-stop trip via JFK.
If I search for 1 passenger only I get cheaper fares (e.g. £473 via Dallas). I guess this means that they don't have 3 seats available on the lower-priced deals?
