Just found this thread for the first time and I am loving all the tips I have picked up!

We are booked to go to Vegas in August - I booked with Continental Vacations and we are flying from Edinburgh, via NY (there are no direct flights from Scotland). I priced up flights and hotels separately, as i have booked this way in the past, but it actually worked out cheaper as a package for the dates we wanted. I have flown with Continental several times and have always had good experiences with them, plus the baggage allowance is a bonus.

Staying at the Mandalay Bay and would love any feedback on the rooms from anyone who has stayed there? I have stayed at Planet Hollywood and THE Hotel at Mandalay in the past (which was simply amazing) but as we are staying for 10 nights it was just working out too pricey to stay there again.

Now just have to wait 5 months till we actually go!

A note for anyone staying at Wynn/Encore, be aware that they take a pre-authorisation block of $200 per night on your credit card when you check in, to cover incidentals.

Even if you have already prepaid your stay in advance ie through Expedia or other travel sites

For those of you wondering about seating on planes, try this site http://seatexpert.com/. Really useful site!

That's handy - I've always used seatguru.com but being able to search by flight is very useful.

Wynn charge $50 extra per person over 2 per night - so maybe that's part of it?

But that doesnt explain the massive rise of about $450 over 4 nights (should be $200) thats what makes me think there may be an error.

If the difference was $200 I would be booking it

I'm flying with Virgin from Gatwick to Vegas in May and have read all the report about how the planes are looking old and tired now. I was wondering if anyone knew which seats are the best to try and get? I think mine have been reserved as 29 A an B, cant work out if these are good or should I try and change

they are all crap , uncomfy , and very cramped .i will never pay to get on that flight again

the only seats worth trying to get were the very limited 2 seats on their own at the back of the plane ( and good luck trying to get them !!!) . however people have now said that they are now charging extra for these . might be worth a punt if when you check in but don't hold your breath that they will be available or even reasonably priced if they are .

best bet is to get a least one aisle seat so you can at least get out of your seat without having to ask a total stranger to get up everytime. only other tip would be try to be nearer the front on the way out , so less of a queue Immigration .

you could always try my trick and be right at the very back and sit in the Toilet for the majority of the flight ( yes the Toilet for several hours is heaven compared to the seat . 4 toilets per aisle meant i never made anyone queue for the other toilets )

sorry for the bad news , hope you enjoy Vegas .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

We are flying with Delta from Heathrow - nondirect - stopping in Atlanta. Long journey but have a direct flight back at least & a direct flight onto New York (we are spending 5 nights there are Vegas).

The pairs at the back are our favorites - they only charge for them where they have added in extra legroom in those rows - It's £30 each way and IMHO worth the cost. If there isn't extra legroom in those rows then they are down to the luck of the draw - we got a pair at the back once at online check in 24-hours before - were astonished that the popped up - but worth checking.
