AprilHelp needed,
been to vegas 4 times now every time with friends but wanting to go next year as we are saving up our tesco clubcard deals, should have £700 off a virign holiday by this time next year, BUT the OH is not to keen on going she would rather go to spain.......
trying to convience her she can sunbathe etc in lv and have so much more as well. anyone come accross this problem before and how to overcome?
cheers
Agree with the others on ways to tempt her - Vegas really can be so many different holidays to different people.
But on the Virgin thing - since you have time - maybe price up a Virgin holiday you would be interested in, then price up the component parts separately - so the same flight on the same dates and the same hotel booked directly (with or without any of the discounts you can find from the links on page 1).
In my experience VH is vastly overpriced - the value of which depends on which hotel you go for...so while you may save £700 off a Virgin Holiday, you won't actually be saving £700 on what it would have cost you to book separately so may not be the best use of your clubcard points.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
January , FebruaryHi,
We have just got back from LV
We used BA for the flights which was really good, small ish plane but new fittings and indivdual TV for each seat, they seem to be using this flight as one of the main ones from mainland europe so our plane was full of the Spanish arm of Nestle heading for a conference.
We stayed in the MGM which was fine, clean and huge, got 45% discount to see the KA Cirque show, which was amazing, we paid for the cheapest seats but moved along to the more expenisve ones.
Personally I didn't like the shopping in Vegas too many high end designer brands, we then went on to Tuscon were I got loads of stuff.0 -
December ( including Xmas and New Year )Ferf1223 I definitely agree with you. Our 17 night luxury (Bellagio/MGM/Mandalay Bay) Xmas holiday would have cost 3 times what we paid if we hadn't done it separately. Anyway it's great fun sorting the different components out. My only complaint was I should have made it for even more nights! By the way if you want to make any Alessandro avatars I've just had a great time on their meerkat site making different ones. I've got a great Poker Playing one and a belly dancing one as well that's really cute.0

Agree as far as most of the shopping directly on the strip - but some great outlet centres very close by for some good bargains.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberNope.
Looking at the Palazzo reviews - I'm pretty sure the two from Jan were in the same party - both from Canada, experiences almost identical.
Ultimately, there's a chance anywhere that staff will be up to no good, but somewhere like Vegas, where (relatively speaking) wages are decent for housekeepers and many people tip - I'd have to think that in general people aren't going to risk a much better job than they could get elsewhere. Also in general I think that the vetting process is going to be pretty strong for any casino employee. Will they weed out everyone who plans to get up to no good? No....but they will get most.
We've never had anything stolen and never bother with the room safe - cash and passports are hidden somewhere out of plain sight. But we normally have both of our PMPs, two cameras, netbook, mobile phones, etc. all laying around the room somewhere and nothing has ever happened to any of them. I had one day where I accidentally left $200 on a table in the room and it was there when we got back hours later.
What we tend to do is put all the expensive stuff out of site in a large suitcase and lock it. they would have a hard time getting that out without being noticed. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Has anyone had any issues with thefts from hotels by staff?0

true never booked wiht clubcard always done both seperate but as she is a teacher we are limited to holiday times when the 4x does work out better so should be paying approx £1000 ourselves which we cant argue with, beats spending the vouchers on crisps and booze in tescoHi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
