AprilI also can't remember anyone staying at Trump...but if you decide to go for Trump, it may be worth trying on Priceline first - to see if you can get it cheaper...or possibly get a better 5* hotel for less. I think most of the accepted bids for 5* on the strip in Vegas are for Trump...so if you would be happy there, you wouldn't have anything to lose by trying...though once you've bid if your bid is accepted that it, there's no changing and no cancelling.
I also think of Trump as being geared more toward businessmen I know you say you're not worried about their not being a casino...to me one of the most Vegassy parts of my day is getting off the lift in the casino and hearing all those sounds, etc. But that's just me. And I smoke...though not in the hotel room - the casino serves that purpose for me...so for now a non-smoking hotel without a casino wouldn't really work.
It will be a nice hotel I think...the location isn't awful...seems to be good value...I think a lot (all?) of the rooms have kitchens which might be nice and handy...it gets generally good reviews.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

make sure you look at the daily service charge rate or whatever its called in trump, if i remember its staggeringly high and they dont mention it on booking, I may be mistaken though but I'm sure trump was one of them that had a high hidden rate to cover use of pool phone gym and parking0 -

What do people think of that? Good price? And good hotel for a first timer? We're not too bothered about there not being a casino actually in the hotel.
I am with the others, First timer/Trump dont go together IMO. IMO you have to have a casino in the hotel or its just not Vegas, again that is aimed at first timers in particular.
I havent stayed at Trump (prob never will) I guess it is a good hotel and a goood price.0 -

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
SeptemberThanks for the useful replies guys.... (I had done thread searches but could see noone had mentioned the Trump before hence the question).
Yeah the resort fees for the trump are $16.80 p/n which I worked out from the trip advisor reviews and added to the price I had found.
(We're also non smokers and I have asthma so in a way the trump appealed)
This is kind of our belated honeymoon so we fancied a posh 5* hotel and this was the one that came out at a decent price.... we're probably thinking a max of $750 for the 5 nights but wanted to be in the midst of it and we'd heard that thought the Trump was off strip it wasnt very far at all to get on strip basically right in the middle of it (by going through the fashion mall).
So you guys think we should hold off on any booking till June/July and just watch this thread etc for deals?0 -
Maybe Signature then - top hotel, non-smoking, but attached to MGM Grand.illegitimi non carborundum0

MayTrump has never appealed to me. I like to try out the new hotels on the strip, but don't like the location or the resort/service fees. The only thing it has going for it IMO is that it is cheap for a 5* as I've seen it at $89/night.
We spoke to first timers who where staying there last trip and they hated it. They said it was dirty which I was surprised at seeing as it's so new.
I would also suggest the Signature. No casino, non-smoking, nice property.
You might struggle to get a 5* for $750 for 5 nights including a weekend without a very good promo. Even with a promo Fri & Sat are usually around $199.
Just be be pedantic, there are only a couple of 5* hotels in Vegas by Mobil standards - the Skylofts at MGM and the Tower Suites at Wynn/Encore. The ones we regard as 5* are classed as 4*.
That said, even ones classed as 3* we would regard as 4-5* due to the amount of facilities in the hotel such as restaurants and spas.0 -
