Re the $20 trick at Paris. I have read loads of reports where people tried it only to be offered an upgrade at a price. We've stayed there twice and were given an upgrade to a Red Room luxury without asking which should have been an extra $40/night so I tipped after getting it rather than trying to bribe by offering it first.

I had consciously decided not to ask for an upgrade so didn't have money handy and had to scramble in my bag for my purse.

The second time I just asked if there were any P rooms available and I was offered one on a lower floor or a standard room on a higher floor. We chose the P room as we've been to Vegas enough times that view isn't that important to us.

Luci - now that's a can of worms - what is a P room (or any other designation for that matter?) My wife doesn't actually like being too high anyway - the rest of us don't mind.

    Thanks for you advice

A P room is a Premier room, is on a corner and has 2 windows instead of one as far as I understand it. It felt bigger than the standard Luxury room.

It also had a small "room" between the bedroom and bathroom just big enough to house the desk and another closet.

The P room had a mini bar and there was a notice saying you could use the middle shelf for your personal items which is unusual in Vegas.

You can read my reviews of the 2 rooms HERE

Forgot to say, you can see the different rooms on the Paris website.

    Thanks Luci

Did take a look at these - hoping that a few MSE's have some personal experience/recommendations

Thanks folks - really much appreciated. Luci - the room reviews really helpful - have to decide about whether to try the $20 trick. Checking in about 9pm on a Friday night.

Easymaths - I went with Maverick and agree it was an excellent trip

I'm not positive, but I didn't think that the Premier rooms at Paris = P rooms...I thought the P rooms were all on corners with the 2 windows...I thought the Premier rooms were basically standard rooms but had a view.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I thought the P room were all corner rooms too, but the OH pointed out that you can get P rooms near the elevator and thought they weren't corner rooms.

We had a partial view of the Bellagio fountains, between 2 buildings.
