It did go well, thanks Ozzy.

I think all the preparation helped, especially mentally, knowing you lot were thinking of me.

Don't worry, you'll soon bring it down especially if you hang out on MSE & take in all the great advice :)

    You did WG.

I was expecting a Yorkshire lad or lass to ring me, was surprised to get a broad Glasgow accent !!!

I'd be happier paying a bit more but will just save money wherever I can.

I really am ever so grateful for all your help.

Promise me you won't stop coming on MSE !!!!!

Lol, we have offices all over, doesn't matter where you live you just get the next appointment!

You can bump it up later once you have gotten used to things. Hey you can even just PM me your ref and i can change your budget round ;)

Not a problem at all, glad i could help!

    I promise :p

    Hi Guys,

I've just found this thread and for the first time in months felt a little surge of hope that my debts could be sorted out! I just have a few questions about these DMPs, and was wondering if anyone can help. I've searched the site but I can't find anything in Martin's articles.

    1. Are the DMPs registered on your credit file?
    2. Do you have to set up an official DMP with a specialist company or can you come up with your own?
    3. Do the credtors have to accept a realistic repayment offer or can they tell you where to go?

    Sorry to bombard you

    Thanks

    1. Not at all
    2. you don;t ave to, you can do your own, but sometimes creditors will reject them on that basis and sometimes it's better to have the backing of a company.
    3. no they don't, and yes they can i'm afraid

    Hope that helps :o

    Hi emmamaw,

I'm new here myself, but I will give answering your questions a go:

    1. No they aren't registered. But entering into a DMP will affect your credit rating and the consequences of entering into one will show on your file i.e. arrears, possible defaults and the like.

    2. No you can set one up on your own. There are ones out there which you have to pay a fee for but avoid those like the plague. Instead have a look at CCCS and PayPlan both of which are free and come highly recommended by the good people on this board.

    3. They don't have to accept your offer, but if you haven't got the money to pay them, what can you do?! Most of the time they will kick up a fuss but then settle down eventually.

Hope this helps. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

Maybe you could post a Statement of Affiars emmamaw listing all you incomings and outgoings along with debt levels and payments, and everyone on here will be able to offer you loads of good advice.

    Hope it goes well.

    Cheers,
    D.

    Thanks for the quick replies

I could list my debts really easily, the problem is my income. I've given up work to look after my daughter, and I'm really determined to do whatever I have to to avoid passing her around whilst I go back to work. Hubby has his own business, and although he works long hours, most of his income is eaten up by his start-up loans. Last year he only made £1500 after expenses, but we've both worked so hard on the business that we don't want to admit defeat just yet. I know it seems really obvious that I should just go out and get a job, and believe me I'm not lazy, but my mum always worked full time whilst I was growing up and I'm really determined not to return to work until my kids are in school all day. I'm not feeling sorry for myself - I know we've overspent and I want to pay it back, I just need a little breathing space whilst we play catch up.
