    Topic for the week...

Do you get up at a set time or wait until your children wake you up?

I usually wait for the kids to get up, which means I wake anywhere between 7 and 8 most days, but have to get straight into Mummy Work. Have been thinking about getting an alarm clock and waking up at the same time every day, preferably a bit before kids get up, so that I can get more organised and have a little me time to wake up, possibly even manage to do my hair/make up (maybe) if I get a chance.
Would also help me get DH up for work as he's hopeless, being self emplyed he thinks he can go when he likes!

Just being nosy and wondering how the rest of you organise your mornings?

I have an alarm for school mornings set for 6.45am and i need every minute to get everything done and out the door for 8.10am ready for drive to school. None school days I get up when the kids wake me - mainly cos I need the extra sleep. I did try getting up at 6.30am and having 15minutes to myself before the 6.45 rush but I found that my being up and around meant that the kids woke earlier so I was losing valuable sleep and gaining nothing. :) But my OH gets up for work at 4.00am so am usually disturbed when he opens the garage (our bedroom directly over the garage and shakes like an earthquake when he opens garage) but I am always aware he could oversleep so I sort of wake myself at 4.10 to check he has got out of bed.
Would love my mornings to more organised and less of a mad rush but no matter how much I prepare theres still always so much to do.

I'm lucky mine aren't at school yet so I'm yet to have to do the school run thing. 3 days a week the boys have preschool but it's only at the end of our street and most days DH drops them off. This will all change when we move and DS1 starts school... hence my urge to get mornings sorted now, I need the practice! So any advice welcome :D

My two are usually up the back of 7. Eldests clothes are already out so he gets dressed himself (hes 8) we all go down just before 8. Youngest has milk (still) while watching Fireman Sam and eldest has breakfast. I pottering in kitchen putting on wash, clean dishes away etc.

Then go thru and dress youngest, then get ready to go out door at ideally 8.40. Youngest likes a break between milk and breakfast so he has his once we come home from school drop off just after 9.

  • Hello, I am back from my manic weekend! Hope you are all ok. We did the carboot sale - I had a job to get DH to think it was a good idea at 5.15am on a sunday morning when ds was staying at grandparents and it was -4 outside :o so I was sooo glad when it was well worth while :D (and so was he!). I have never done one before but we did so well! We made £100!!! and it was good fun doing something like that together. We then went and had a lovely lunch together just the 2 of us (and spent loads of the profits :D) we sorted out ds's room and put the cot back in the nursery. DS loves his new 'big boys' room. So had a good weekend and ds loved being at his grandparents! We have lots of busy weekends coming up - lots planned to do before baby comes .......... including romantic weekend away and I am having a mum-to-be spa treatment :D Can not wait!

But the rest of the house is a tip so major cleaning needed this week! plus car mot, insurance, need to sort out other insurances and sort some paperwork. Arrgghh - headache already!

Right now - Topic of the week (thanks Ragz)
I get up when ds wakes mainly. This tends to be 7am when dh goes to work. He did go through a time when he slept through daddy having a shower and leaving house and woke at 8am. And sometimes he wakes up but he takes ages to actually properly wake up and actually call me - he hates it if I go in before I am called :rotfl:'mummy whereeee are youuuu?' so on those occasions when he didn't want to get out of bed until 8am (he sounds like a teenager not a 2 yr old!) I got up had a shower and sometimes managed to have breekie on my own before he got up. I did like that routine but I am not going to get up before 7am to do this. Until the baby comes then I am not sure what our rountine will be.
