I agree showering with the baby in another room wouldn't work as you can't hear them but my SIL always said just stick baby in a chair in the bathroom and let him watch! When my ds was little (hes nearly 2) I struggled with what to do when showering ect.. I found the best thing for me was to put him in his bouncy chair in the bathroom and he watched me have a shower.
Never an issue for me as I prefer to take my time so I always showered/bathed in the evening too. But a good tip anyway.Hi there,
Isn't 8 months the age when separation anxiety is supposed to start? (I didn't get it till age 3 but that's another story).
x
It certainly is. baby is suddenly realising he is a seperate person and that Mummy can be in other places! The following quote from Babyworld puts it well
Up until your baby reaches six months old, she thinks she is still attached to you. However, after this age she becomes more aware of strangers, as babyworld health visitor Debbie Honer explains. "Separation anxiety affects all babies to some degree, but some more than others. It begins at around seven months, peaks just after the first birthday and gradually declines up to the age of three."

Done a lot of the Flylady list today, off to do a bit more, keep getting tightenings though so hoping baby is not deciding to come early - snow falling thick and fast here so they may cancel home births again and I really want to be able to have her at home...June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

what is Flylady? everyone keeps mentioning it but i have no idea what it is?Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
google flylady
she has a website to help with cleaning etc
she tries to get you into routines, morning, lunchtime, before bed etc
so it is easier to stay on top of all the other things you have to do without worrying about all the stuff you do in the routines, such as finish washing up
she also splits the house into zones so you do bits at a time, and they have decluttering missions and random things every day such as 'go to the cupboard under your sink remove everything, clean it and only put back the things you regularly use' etc etc
anyways the showering thing, i used to do that but now he can easily climb out of bouncy chair (going on ebay) and the only other thing i have that he sits in is a jumperoo which i can't really cart upstairs (i have 3 floors)... and i can't put him on the floor to play as now he is crawling and getting into EVERYTHING!! lolMisc debts - £5,000 | Student loan - £9,000 | Mortgage - £180,000

Just to say Flylady can seem a bit overwhelming at first, depends on how organised you are already I think! Don't try and do everything she tells you, it'll send you nuts.0 -

The flylady what I'm do is on the OS board, link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2195345. Each Sunday the lovely pigpen starts a new thread. She edits the first post each night (about 9ish) with a list of to dos for the next day, each day it's a different room yesterday was the kitchen. There are 3 levels and you get a star for doing all 3 levels, the list are for Monday to Friday - todays list is the bathroom & study. It's really fun but can be daunting at first. I've been following it for about 7 months and now the lists are easy for me as most of the time some things are still fine from week before. I don't post on there now as the thread becomes so long and I was spending more time reading than cleaning, so I just copy & paste list into open office and post to ask for my star if I do all three levels.
I know there is the flylady orginal site but it was too regimental for me.0 -
oh wow been looking at that flylady site, thanks for explaining

i most definately live in CHAOS! haha, i have signed up and waiting for the email now, although i probably wont get everything done on the days (work 3 days a week) i can certainly try, and then catch up on the days im off.
few more things done and crossed off the list, just need to stop getting sidetracked by the laptop *sigh*Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
also about flylady:
i joined a couple of years ago, got flooded with emails, got scared and un-joined and never looked at again till a few months ago. Since then I have just been following online, not subscribed to the emails.. I don't know if it has changed but when you used to get so many emails it was easy to get put off very quickly
Just a warning!
I've just seen the posts about seperation anxiety ... silly me i thought that happened when they were about 18 months
maybe I should look into it, I wonder if there is anything I can do about it? Misc debts - £5,000 | Student loan - £9,000 | Mortgage - £180,000
