Well done, it's hard isnt it?
I htink we get me time when they start school !
It's not the me time I'm interested in, it's the time to do something in the house while my OH is at work, he's so demanding he can hardly be put down for a minute, unless he's in the right mood, which doesn't happen often.
As he gets older I know it will get better, we have an older DD, but atm I feel like I do nothing apart from look after him.

Like now, I'm sat here in my jimjams because we had a terrible nights sleep and woke up late, so it was all hands to the deck trying to get OH and DD ready for school and work, cook porridge, make packed lunches, sort out chickens/cat/rubbish and recycling which is picked up this morning.
Bless them, they're both really good and rushed off while I was giving DS a bottle. But it now means I haven't had breakfast (although I have had a coffee) and can't get showered and dressed until he goes to sleep at 11-11.30ish.

Is everyone else like this, or will I get more organised?

3am and not long finished papering the sitting room! I only did the chimney breast but I feel quite proud that I just decided to do it... and did it!

Organisation and routine is definitely the key here. For example -
If your mornings are rushed then do the following in the evening
    - make packed lunches
    - lay out outfits for the next day
    - soak porridge oats for brekkie
    - put bins out etc

You can sit baby in his chair in the bathroom while you shower, my SIL used to do that with mine when she baby sat them when they were tiny!

If you have a clingy baby and can't bring yourself to take the "cruel to be kind" line then you can always stick him in a sling while you do your jobs around the house. At least you'll get stuff done!

Not trying to tell you what to do just making suggestions :D

Really thought I was going into labour last night but thankfully didn't!

Kids are both at preschool today for the first time in a week. Unfortunately OH is here too (I love him, but it's been a week!!!!) because there isn't much gardening you can do under several feet of snow...
Not earned any money for a week now!

    Today's to do list
    Wash hair/have bath
    Tidy kitchen (Flylady list)
    Tidy Utility Room
    Bins Out
    Make spag bol for dinner

Got the washer on , so looking at a 4.30am bed timem this has got to start improving or i will run myself ragid.

Started Adios today in a bid to lose some lbs.

Tomorrows jobs will just have to be minimal - I need an early nighter. Will just do the bear minimum tomorrow.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok :)

How is the papering? Looking good?

I don't know how you cope staying up so late, I really need my sleep. I woke up before my alarm this morning which was a bit shocking (I still didn't get out of bed though!)

    How old is your daughter??

    Right, now for my list:

    - [STRIKE]look behind the washing machine and try and sort out the leak[/STRIKE] (Done, for now!)
    - [STRIKE]put washing on[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]throw papers and loo rolls out for recycling[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]change DS's bed[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]clean mould in bathroom[/STRIKE] - yuk!
    - [STRIKE]hang washing out and put dry washing away[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]washing up[/STRIKE]I just washed up at 10pm, normally I wouldn't e bothered and would leave it till the morning but I am enjoying this cleaner more organised house :j
    - [STRIKE]put DS's old games on Freecycle[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]spend 15 minutes doing something "pampering"[/STRIKE] - painted my nails while I watched the 1st hour of The Holiday. The girliness of that sentence makes me feel a bit sick lol!

    Hope everyone's getting on ok!

Lotus-eater - I have mornings like that - sometimes it just takes one or two things to completely upset the balance! I am trying to make little changes here and there to see how they improve (or if they do!) the organisation during the day.. some work, some don't. Trial and error, I think. And then.. some mornings are just chaos, although admittedly not many.

    Today's list:
    - [STRIKE]sterilising fluid changed[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]bottles washed, sterilised, made for day[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]both boys up, fed, and dressed[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]washing up[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]tuna mayo made and put in fridge for today's lunch[/STRIKE]
    - [STRIKE]banana bread sliced and portioned into container for DS2's snack later[/STRIKE]
    - go through Rachel Allen cookbook (Bake) and see what recipes I would like to try in the next 2 weeks
    - spag bol for tea tonight
    - letters to print off and organise tonight, so DH can mail them on his way to work
    - put together "staples" grocery list to print off and put on fridge (seems to be easier for DH just to tick off on the paper when we're low or out of something, so this will make it much easier for me!)
    - wash load of laundry tonight and hang up before going to bed

We had some leftover pork from our pork roast on Sunday, and last night decided to chop it up and heat it up with some of the Sains sweet and sour sauce (it's about 29p per jar!) and have that over rice. Oh my, but was it ever tasty!!! We're DEFINITELY doing that again next time we have pork roast!! Nice cheap and easy meal!!

My living room looks just a bit like a toybox exploded. Toys everywhere. But it's almost time for DS2's nap, and then I can get a little picking up done. And then sit back for a few minutes and relax.

  • hey everyone! hope you have all had nice mornings :)

things are a bit behind here as usual, went back to work yesterday after having a week off so was hugely busy! picked up the children from MIL and got back home about 6.30 ish, sorted out the kids tea then put them to bed then decided to have some me time! yay! chilled out a bit then went to bed.

DD school is closed again today, not due to snow (we only had snow last wed for 1 day *sulk*) but the heating has packed up, i tried bargaining with them saying i would dress dd in extra jumpers but they wouldn't have any of it :D

the children must have been really tired from all the running around over the weekend and the didnt wake up until 11.30am:eek::eek: so my morning of doing things has gone to pot too, although i have managed to do a few things today,

    • wash bed linen and pillows done,
    • de-clutter front room semi done,
    • de-clutter kitchen
    • sort through the toys piled up in the corner
    • tidy DD bedroom
    • sort out shoe cupboard
    • take DD dentist at 3pm
    • go through all food in house and take note of what is there
    • create a meal planner for next week
i do have a few more things i need to do but with the kids arguing every minute of the day it's pretty hard to get anything done, oh the joy.

i know i shouldn't wish DD's childhood away but when she is at school i can get so much more done!

I'm a new SAHD and am confused where you get all the time to do things.

I have a 5 month old to look after and after doing the dishwasher/kitchen and looking after him, I'm lucky if I get time to have lunch myself and to browse here for 10 mins with a cup of tea, while my OH is at work.

So how do you do it?

I have a 5-month-old too - the trick is to entertain the baby while you do something else. We have a baby chair in the kitchen with hanging toys that make noise, so when I'm in sole charge I drop her in there while I do dishes/load laundry/make and eat breakfast etc, then during naptime I shower and eat lunch and the rest of the day is a combination of playtime, food time, naptime and inserting the baby into the sort of toy that gives me five/ten/fifteen minutes to get something done.

mumof2wk -was :rotfl:at your volunteering to send your DD to school in extra jumpers. I'm sure there were quite a few parents feeling that way! ;)

We're supposed to be getting heavy snow tonight and tomorrow, starting later this afternoon or early evening. We still haven't managed to pick up the carpet tiles we wanted to pick up last week, due to the weather. Now it looks as if it's going to be another week before we can get it done. I just want to finish things up and move on to the next DIY project, so I'm annoyed that I can't yet. And I have the incredible munchies today, and there's really nothing interesting in the house. I need to bake something... but what? *sigh* I MIGHT have chocolate chips and glace cherries, so I can make chocolate cherry scones. Yummmmm..... may have to investigate the cupboard for those ingredients at 4 when DH can take over with the kids while I start making the spag bol anyway. I can multitask and do both. I think...

hi lotus - what time does bubs go off to bed? from about 2mths old dexter went to bed at about 7pm - he was up and down for feeds but sleeping time he was in his cot. from 5mths he would sleep until time for his night feed and now he sleeps throug pretty much. If your LO goes to bed about 7 this should free up your evenings so a few hours at least? Also - does he have a daytime nap? I include daytime naps in my free time as I try to get the easy jobs (dishes, washing etc) done while baby is playing or as if more likely, crawling behind me trying to get into the washing machine/dishwasher so I have nap time as either work time, for big jobs ie ironing or me time :)
