Rainbow81 if you have obvious highlights, quite a few shades lighter then you should keep them nice by doing the roots every month to six weeks really. If they are very natural looking then 3-4 months is fine. The longer your hair the longer you can leave it between retouches, if you have shorter hair the highlights themselves are more obvious so need more frequent attention.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Thanks Ragz - I need to see if I can afford it then...6 weeks you say, hmm. I do envisage going quite a lot lighter but doing it gradually with highlights instead of a big block colour (and it's what the hairdresser suggested, lol), but I don't mind a few roots, a la Holly Willoughby!0

Well i have not got as much done today as i hoped as my DS aged 12yrs old was sent home from school with chest and abdomen pains which look like a tummy bug  I have mana\ged to make off a few bits of my list and hope i get some more done later when they are all in bed.
Me Time (Because we're worth it) Questions'
1) How much 'me' time do you have on an average day? Probably anything from 2 - 5 hours a day
2) How is this broken down? 30 - 60 minutes bath in the evening, 2 hours watching tv/on laptop/reading when kids are in bed and before i go to sleep and 5 - 20 minutes here and there during the day when kids are at school.
3) How do you feel about this amount? I am happy with that most days.
4) Do you think you use your time wisely or would you like to make changes? I like the me time i have and what i do with it especially a relaxing bath listening to my Ipod or reading a book in the evenings.
5) Any ideas/tips to free up more 'me' time or use it more effectively? Make a routine / list and stick to it as much as possible.
6) Do you have an exercise regime - if yes, please describe and how much does it cost you? I do not at the moment but will do in 2 weeks time once i am settled on my diet where i aim to do 30 minutes exercise a day at home o wii fit or aerobics dvds (this will not cost anything) then hope to start regular swimming / gym each week after a month or so which i think will be no more then £10 a week.
7) Do you have a beauty routine - if yes please describe and how much does it cost you? I use facial creams in the morning / evening (eye make up remover, cleaner, toner, beauty serum and a night or day moisturiser. All no 7 protect and perfect products. I also have a bath each day (soap and glory or lush most days) and then use a all over body serum (again No 7 protect and perfect) then a body butter or lotion (loving Soap & Glory at the mo) to moisturise my body. I also use the heel crack cream for my feet too. I wash and condition my hair 3 times a week with Tigi S Factor smoothing shampoo and conditioner then dry and starighten using Tigi S Factor Lusterizer. I havent got a clue on cost but i do love my beauty products. Also each weekend i do a face mask too.
8) How often do you visit a salon and what do you have done/cost? I go every 9 - 12 weeks and usually have a wash, cut and styled, blow dried then straighten ands that is usually £29.90.
9) Any tips/ideas for bringing the above costs down? You can always try your local college as they quite often advertise for models so they can practise so you can get hair cuts and beauty treatments done for free or very low cost.
10) How much do you spend on new clothes in any given month? I am on a diet and dont spend loads on my clothes at the moment but when i am slimmer i intend to spend about on average £20 - £30 month on my clothes but more likely to do 3 - 4 large shops over the year then every month.
11) Do you go out ie with friends/partners? How often, where and how much do you spend on this? Do not go out often but when i do it is usually only the cinema or for a meal. We usually spend time at home and have date night once a month and every Saturday night we have "family" night with the kids. It is hard for us to leave our 6yr old with anyone as she has Aspergers Syndrome.
12) Is there anything you'd like to change/improve in 2010 ie Me time resolutions lol
I want to loose weight, exercise and start to look like a yummy mummy
13) What are the obstacles to achieving the above and how can we overcome them?? I think our frames of mind - i know i feel so busy and overwhelmed and tired a lot of the time and then cant be bothered to go out or to exercise etc i just want to sleep or chill out!Member of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -
1) How much 'me' time do you have on an average day?
Maybe 2-3 hours, probably a little bit more.
2) How is this broken down?
Once the baby goes to bed around 8ish I have till I wander off to bed around 10:30-11ish. There's also the bits where she's napping in the early evening and I'm not doing something houseworky or workworky.
3) How do you feel about this amount?
I've a five month old baby in the house - I don't think I'm doing too badly. Husband is also good about taking her for a while during the day if I'm really in need.
4) Do you think you use your time wisely or would you like to make changes?
I could probably be more productive with it... but by the time I get it I'm too tired to be bothered.
5) Any ideas/tips to free up more 'me' time or use it more effectively?
Not till someone invents baby Valium.
6) Do you have an exercise regime - if yes, please describe and how much does it cost you?
Situps challenge and I Wii fit when I can.
7) Do you have a beauty routine - if yes please describe and how much does it cost you?
I'm lucky if I get a regular shower. Shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/moisturiser. I buy Aussie hair stuff and Lush moisturiser, and shower gel is whatever I get in the supermarket normally. €6-7/month.
8) How often do you visit a salon and what do you have done/cost?
Only when I'm in the UK, so maybe 2-3 times a year. Haircut is £25ish.
9) Any tips/ideas for bringing the above costs down?
I'm not buying any new cosmetics till after I've finished using up all my bits from hotels/old gift sets/the Lush sale etc.
10) How much do you spend on new clothes in any given month?
Nothing at the moment - I'm also on a no new clothes mission.
11) Do you go out ie with friends/partners? How often, where and how much do you spend on this?
Weekly, with mummy friends or other friends with Husband and baby in tow. I probably spend €20-25ish.
12) Is there anything you'd like to change/improve in 2010 ie Me time resolutions lol
All in my sig
I'd like to be more organised and use my time better without wasting as much money on unnecessary stuff as I did last year.
13) What are the obstacles to achieving the above and how can we overcome them??
My laziness and general enjoyment of new clothes.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

'Me Time (Because we're worth it) Questions'
1) How much 'me' time do you have on an average day?
3 hours
2) How is this broken down?
I have 2 hours while ds at nursery but haven't put that in the above because it's spent either cleaning or food shopping so not really me time IYSWIM. When the kids go to bed that is me time. I tend to spend most nights on laptop, have a quick shower. Do watch movies with oh some nights
3) How do you feel about this amount?
Fine with this would like to do something better with the time though
4) Do you think you use your time wisely or would you like to make changes?
Not at all, would like to stop been lazy on the laptop.
5) Any ideas/tips to free up more 'me' time or use it more effectively?
Need more energy - get organised.
6) Do you have an exercise regime - if yes, please describe and how much does it cost you?
No - broken toe, so can't at the moment
7) Do you have a beauty routine - if yes please describe and how much does it cost you?
Not really, this is one thing I need to do as I feel haggered most days
8) How often do you visit a salon and what do you have done/cost?
Never, sister is hair dresser the odd bottle of wine (she won't take money)
9) Any tips/ideas for bringing the above costs down?
Stop buying her wine (actually she doesn't want me too at mo as she's on a healthy eating thing)
10) How much do you spend on new clothes in any given month?
nothing, tend to buy stuff at charity shop so probably 20-30 quid a year - I'm not one for clothes shopping, dress for comfort not fashion (which I tend to hate anyway)
11) Do you go out ie with friends/partners? How often, where and how much do you spend on this?
Not really odd outing but tend to be with kids, last thing we did was go to cinema in school hols
12) Is there anything you'd like to change/improve in 2010 ie Me time resolutions lol
I like to get organised, get routines in place, exercise plan
13) What are the obstacles to achieving the above and how can we overcome them??
too tired as it takes ages for me to get to sleep on a night and wake up with banging headaches most days (too much coffee) - I'm on trying to cut this down so hopefully this will improve also can't exercise as broke toe (it's take ages to heal as it gets stood on loads through the day) it's still black & blue and I did it nearly a fortnight ago.

I'm a new SAHD and am confused where you get all the time to do things.
I have a 5 month old to look after and after doing the dishwasher/kitchen and looking after him, I'm lucky if I get time to have lunch myself and to browse here for 10 mins with a cup of tea, while my OH is at work.
So how do you do it?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
all my best plans to do a load has been sidelined as DH has gone our and DS is up so being a bad mommy and letting him play while I watch families on BBC 2. Baby moving loads and still need to sort the overnight bags out ( mine and ds )
I will cook some dinners for the freezer was going to do it tonight but now ds is up, know i wont get the chance. he loves the smell of food!!! wakes him every time lol.
The questions are good this week.. will do them when get the chance. I'm gonna watch the telly them go to bed. willbe more productive 2mow. I must!!!! everyone is doing so well!0 -
1) How much 'me' time do you have on an average day?
Me time , as in just indulging myself with nothing else to do imminently, probably half an hour if that.
2) How is this broken down?
Between 2.30-3am before bed.
3) How do you feel about this amount?
Not alot LOL. I am hoping this will change with a working routine.
4) Do you think you use your time wisely or would you like to make changes?
I think I use it wisely as in channel hopping and having a cup of coffee. Basically doing nothing much.
5) Any ideas/tips to free up more 'me' time or use it more effectively?
As above - just getting ontop of everything and keeping to a routine. As much as I actually hate the idea of routine I realise that it is the only thing that will free up time, and time becomes precious when you dont have any for yourself - that's not to say I dont enjoy time playing with my daughter though!
6) Do you have an exercise regime - if yes, please describe and how much does it cost you?
Doing the ceebeebies Wonderland dance, does that count?
7) Do you have a beauty routine - if yes please describe and how much does it cost you?
I wish haha! I'm afraid anythign to do with how I look went out of the window when I had my baby.
8) How often do you visit a salon and what do you have done/cost?
I don't.
9) Any tips/ideas for bringing the above costs down?
Don't bother.
10) How much do you spend on new clothes in any given month?
Zero. I have a wardrobe full of pre pregnancy clothes that i dont fit into. I am managing in awful stuff for now till I lose the weight.
11) Do you go out ie with friends/partners? How often, where and how much do you spend on this?
Nope. Only take daughter out myself and it's just us two 99% of the time. Mostly shopping, sometimes the park and sometimes just round the streets for fresh air. Cost: minimal.
12) Is there anything you'd like to change/improve in 2010 ie Me time resolutions lol
I'd like to get fit so I will feel less tired and be able to get on with things easier. Maybe put some nail varnish on, that would be nice! I want to spend 2010 working on my self esteem and just being the best mum I can be. I need to end the year happy believeing in myself.
13) What are the obstacles to achieving the above and how can we overcome them??
Motivation - time - inclination even. Depression, sadness and uncertainty in relationship breakdown. Not only being a mum for the first time but a single one to boot,, I find I go from being excited at the prospect to being scared. I need to find myself again and everything will fall into place if I let it.50p/£24.00 Xmas 2010:rudolf:
