Massively new Hypno. So painful and shocking. Sometimes in the really !!!! times in my life I have got through on pure anger. It doesn't make it any fairer. or easier to understand.
Its how it works.

Hate to say it but men can be very cruel.
(Sorry Z).
Women can be very cruel - it's not a man/woman thing, but the way breakups go.
It's like doing stupid things during a mid-life crisis - the honours for that are equally divided across men and women too..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Can't remember who said it two pages back, but watch Glee! It might not fix the finances but it will either make you grin, or burst in to tears...
Hopefully the former... Glee is the new Chicken Soup for the soul!
L&S seems to have it fine! Oh for the days of meeting the Bank manager to get the mortgage sorted!
I will try and remain cheerful and hope that my prescence as a male doesn't get me strung up...
Soon you'll be dancing in ngihtclubs with Pania to Pink's So What and other angry girly stompers! Chin up and carry on venting in here! It can only help seeing that you're not the first and definitely not the last woman in the world who get's dealt the carpy card of life...:beer: Debt Free since July 2011 and it feels good!
Now it's all about finding a deposit for a house!

Hypno,
I virtually never post but I really feel for you at the moment and just wanted to say a couple of things.
Firstly, you are an inspiration :A, honestly. I dip in and out of your diaries but generally read them whenever I need to be more motivated in life (quite regularly). Please try and take care of yourself, keeping going at all costs can be harmful to your health.
Secondly, the Hellifax!!:eek::mad: We have just got out of a very long process of dealing with them for what should have been a simple mortgage advance. Although not MSE, it would have to be the deal of the century for me to ever re-mortgage with them. They are idiots, morons and a few other choice words that I will keep to myself!
Please do have another little think about taking your complaint further, though I understand if you do not have the energy for it. Sometimes the energy saved is worth so much more than the money saved.
(If you do decide to take your complaint further, I would only deal with them in writing or via e-mail. Most of the bits of the process that we went through that were disputed were not in writing. Every time we spoke to someone we were told a different story and we were given so many different reasons for why we now had to pay more / were given a different deal to the one we were quoted. We eventually ended up with what we (thought we) had first agreed to.)
Take care,

liloandstitch wrote: »I am not saying argue the valuation hypno, you are stuck with that. But whatever the valuer says, they have already lent you the money. If you do nothing with the names, you still owe the same amount to the halifax. On that valuation. What are they going to do about it - nothing. So you are being penalised by the Halifax in your situation by basically not completing what is a paper transaction, and them moving a figure from one loan to another. And that is why you should take it further to someone senior. I would speak personnaly to a manager in the underwriting department, and if that fails, take it up with the complaints department. You are being treated very shabbily. You are not looking to borrow any further money - just moving it around. I do understand your position, I have been divorced and have had to sort out property and stuff and I can see that you can do without the hassle. I would emphasize again, they are improving their OWN financial position and risk factors at your expense and that is shameful in your situation. I dont care what they say, someone can override that decision - although the underwriter that they spoke to doesnt have the authority. I would have thought that this is something that could be taken to the ombudsman, and I certainly dont think they would want the publicity on this ruling.
At the end of the day, only you know what battles you are currently in the mood to fight. But it is things like this that make my blood boil and one of the main reasons that I have left the banking industry altogether. They are a bunch of charlatans, and customer service is a thing of the past.
Lilo
I was thinking something similar. You are an existing customer, who doesn't want to increase your loan sigificantly. It's not as if OH was the main earner and you already owe the money - so what's the prob? It does sound like a bit of "eeny meany miney" basis to the decision making.
I was going to mention taking it further, then Ombudsman (also the Money section in the weekend Guardian are quite good at naming, shaming and sorting financial problems out), but I know you're sick of having to constantly do stuff.
Another option could be to PM our esteemed leader Martin......(you haven't earned all those medals for nothing)
