Choc brownies

Hi guys,
Just wanted to sy a big thanks for the ideas. Ive just made the choc brownies suggested with the cocoa instead of real chocolate (I usually use a Nigella recipe) and I must admit they are easily as nice as the ones I normally make and much much cheaper.
I have used light brown sugar though, as find it gives a lovely taste and much nicer than caster.
Ive cut them out using a pastry cutter to make the burgers ;-) they already look fab!
Got to nip out for some more sugar as I havent got any caster, but will be continuing with these later and tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the reaction to these :T0 -
Glad you did brownies in the end - I think I'll try the cheaper recipe once I'm off this diet.....

Hi
Ages ago I asked about a chocolate brownie recipe that was cheap to make because previously I was using chocolate. I was sent a link to a recipe (which I think was on a blog).
The brownies were fantastic but I have just realised I stored the recipe on my now dead computer.
Anyone got the link they can send me? was hoping I could find my own previous post on here but I never seem to throw up the right thing when I search.
Thanks0 -
I think I know the one you mean and could have sworn that I had the blog bookmarked, but I can't find it now. However, I do have the recipe (if it's the same one).
Brownies
150g unsalted butter
255g sugar
80g cocoa powder
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
75g plain flour
1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
oven 160c
Line a 24x12cm loaf tin
Melt butter in a medium pan. When just melted, remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Add cocoa and stir well until combined and lump free.
Add vanilla, salt and eggs and mix well.
Gently fold in the flour until only just combined.
Stir through the nuts if using and pour into the loaf tin.
Bake for 50 mins-1 hour until top feels just set and a skewer emerges slightly moist.
Cool in tin, then refridgerate overnight and cut into squares the next day.0 -
Boo81, a quick search tells me that this is the recipe you made - and were very happy with - last time: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=32303547&postcount=130
Check out also this thrifty brownie recipe - it does use chocolate, but as it's smartprice chocolate, it actually costs less than it would using cocoa.0 -
Is this the blog?

I found the brownie thread where you originally asked for the recipe:

A quick Google reveals a few - this one sounds good to me.
