I agree with most of the women who have replied, I too take around 20 minutes. OH moans sometimes, but then I am the one who goes round turning off the lights that he leaves on

As I said its a temp thing to help out, and the room is worth £300 - £350 at least (double, walk in wardrobe, south facing, almost exclusive use of a bathroom with double shower, wireless broadband, digital TV, heat, light and a cat!) but as the person concerened is a friend of a friend we agreed £200 as it is for 2 months max, but if she stays beyond that, the rent will increase accordingly.
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -

unless they want to use it for more than 20 minutes :rotfl:
sorry, couldn't resist.
I'd say let it lie for the moment. maybe take it as an incentive to see if you can save even more elsewhere yourself? that'd be what I'd do, as I like a little challenge like that

And to think when i had my brother lodging here, im not working and he was, he would take 40mins in the shower everyday, use everything, i did his washing which was constant and only paid me a tenner a week, he thought thats fair as i dont provide meals
Hes not here no more, i made it clear, more money or out, he took out as the option, but thats fine by me, trying to get back to normal.

Sorry, but I'm girl with long hair & I'm in the shower about 20 minutes. Having said that, don't know where you are, but that rent sounds awfully awfully cheap. The tax man allows you to charge about £85???? a week before it becomes taxable income under the rent a room scheme. I think your original error was to rent the room too cheap. As you say, after 8 weeks you'd best put the rent up to the going rate for the area.0

I think I would let it go if it was only for a couple of months but I think you know the rent you're charging is on the low side and it's grating a bit that it might actually end up costing you, it would me a bit.:o
The Rigsby comment was funny though, sorry.
I'd use this as an eye opener and set you rent high enough to cover 30 minutes in the shower if she has to stay longer.0 -
I would be more sympathetic to a teenager on a low wage/student as opposed to a twenty something earning a decent wage.
Why only 2 months ?
I agree £200 is very cheap though, that only covers my council tax and water!0 -
I have short hair and shower for 3 minutes without hair washing, 5 minutes with hair washing.
Where's the room?
