I have complained online to ASA advertising standards authority, as they cover sales and promotions. I stated that Argos mislead me by stating this was a promotional / sale item and then cancelling it after contract formed and despatch.
They should send me an email confirmation of my complaint and if I remember rightly they follow up in snail mail.
I can't find an email addy for sara weller who I believe is CEO or I would be emailing her.
I don't expect any further communcation from Argos and am back to work Monday good luck to anyone who takes them on and wins.0 -

well some have had it delivered some have had phone calls saying no
ive not had anything either way, ive not missed a call as i can check back on my phone, no email no courier either

Yes it as still a no. I spoke to head office. But I will be writing to Watchdog tomorrow and the Trading Standards authority.
I have printed all my documentation off, again this was advertised as a sale item - some people were allowed to purchase if they had local stock near them and some have been delivered from their telephone orders. Not very consistent is it? Why some and not others?
My order still is saying it is dispatched and being delivered today and I haven't had a phone call telling me otherwise. It was only because I rang the courier company this morning that I knew it wasn't coming.
Hoping this is all a good case.
Off to enjoy my evening.

A friend of mine ordered this, and after calling HDNL it appears they are being recalled - heard nothing from Argos though.
LOL I have never heard of this happening what a joke, that is just really low handed way to do business.
They have gone this far of the order, now they are going to get the battered boxes back, have to unwrap and put the stock back in, never mind the time used by explaining to those that were expecting the delivery today and they customers they lost! Doesn't make any sense!
Nevertheless if we look at their website T&Cs it says the contract is complete when goods are DESPATCHED, ie left their warehouse - which they have because its with the courier!
2.3 Acceptance of your order and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on despatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it0 -
The first time I attempted to do this the site wasnt going through to the ordering stage so I didn't bother. When I went on later it was working again. I travelled 30 mies to sutton in ashfield today and wasn't allowed to purchase. I argued that they could have emailed me to save me the trip but they just said it was a mistake. They gave me CS number and I rang them to be told the same. The lady was very apologetic and logged a complaint on the system and said I should hear from them in -10 days. Oh well, some you win some you lose. It still seems like false advertising to me.0

I still haven't received anything either!It still says despatched on the order tracker and they've taken my money!It is now past 6 and no sign,no phonecall.
Waited all day,my poor DD is going to be so dissapointed.
Surely they can't take my money and then not send it AND not let me know?!

For info if anyone still has a copy of the reservation they made at Argos, I went into my local Currys at 3:30 this afternoon and asked if they would price match the reservation and they agreed, even after checking the argos website which showed the full price! The manager said he wasnt surprised it has gone back up but still honoured the price match (and 10% difference). So, its worth giving it a try!0

Can't believe this - it's New Years Eve, I'm going to a party in an hour and I'm sitting here reading as to whether you all got your cheap DSis or not and whether Watchdog will be reporting.
I'd be the dog with the bone too...complain again and again people. Argos are out of order, and breaking the law in some cases. Appalling!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
