Can any Pro Merchant account holders answer this...

I know if I open a Pro Merchant account it will cost £28.75 a month and then every sale is subject to 17.5% in fees.

The bit I'm not sure about is the "Variable Closing Fee on delivery charges". For the category I will be listing under, it says the VCF is 47p + 6p per kg - does this fee still apply if I set free postage or even a more realistic postage fee of say 75p? Or are these part of the 17.5% already charged?

Is anyone having problems getting onto amazon seller account tonight? I sold a book earlier & was just logging in to print off the address but the seller page is completeley blank once logged in, I have tried 2 browers on my PC & had someone else try on a laptop but the same thing is happening. Hoping it's just a glitch & will be all fixed by tomorrow.
I had the same experience late at night a while back, but it had righted itself by the morning. I now realise Amazon was probably working on that bit of the program merging the UK system with the USA's.

I am (technically) on holiday for three weeks at the moment, and just dropped in to pick up my emails. Just a quick non-urgent query - has anyone else tried to set Holiday Settings lately? I've done it before several times. It simply wasn't there as an option when I tried a fortnight ago, no matter how many times I looked over four days (thinking about Pending orders, I tried to do it early). In desparation I finally Closed all my listings and will have to wait until next week to see if I can Open them all again. (It's still not there under Store Settings today.

It seems a daft way of having to manage things, and I wondered if anyone has had the same problem recently.
    Better is good enough.

    Hello all,
I've just come across this thread. I've been selling second-hand and out-of-print books for a few years on and off. I used to sell them on Ebay but decided not to bother anymore. I started listing mine on Amazon early this year and I find it much simpler to do it this way. I sell mostly children's books.
It'll be nice to talk to others who sell on there too. Just thought I'd say 'hello!'

    Welcome Naide :)

Our Amazon listings have been pretty much non existent recently. Need a bit of price checking though as we've not done that in some time

Hi Naide and welcome to MSE, as you can see from the last few pages I am not selling much on Amazon anymore as the book market just collapsed for me last Autumn which was a real shame as I had been doing very well indeed. I do still dabble though, I buy books and list on Amazon and sell around 8-10 a month (sob sob) as I have always had a passion for books.

Just had my first return because the buyer didn't read the product description properly and purchased an older version of the album he wanted which didn't have some bonus tracks on it (as opposed to a more expensive (1 quid!) newer version of the album which had the bonus tracks on it)

I think I just switched from one to the other as it started collapsing. It's a such a shame. I sell about that amount now. Sometimes four books in one week and then none at all! Crazy:(
I know what you mean about a passion for books. It's in the blood!:rotfl:

    Thanks again for the welcome!

I visit the forums from time-to-time and it seems to be bad for everyone doesn't it? I need to do a purge, I think.

    Thanks again!:)

had been read from the first page and it looks simpler selling through amazon than ebay....
It's much more expensive and you are held to very high standards though. The actual process may be very simple but there is very high quality control, higher IMO as a buyer only than on eBay. This is why about 75% of my online purchases are made through Amazon, though I browse eBay for things you can't get there.
