Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 13 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

I listed all my DVDs six weeks ago and so far have got back £107 but had to pay £30 in postage which has miffed me a bit and didn't get a straight answer from Amazon regarding the postage other than I'm selling my stuff too cheaply. The profit has been helped by one box set selling for £55. I've got some magazines to add to my inventory later which should help in the run up to christmas.0

Having now been a pro merchant for 3 months I have earned the buy box on all my listings as far as I can see. Hopefully that will lead to a few more sales. Has anyone with the buy box seen a marked increase in sales?
Most definitely, this shows customers you are recognised by Amazon for being a 'good seller' in many different ways, in fact as you are in the buy box many customers will buy off you when they think they are buying from Amazon so in this respect you should notice quite a large increaseI listed all my DVDs six weeks ago and so far have got back £107 but had to pay £30 in postage which has miffed me a bit and didn't get a straight answer from Amazon regarding the postage other than I'm selling my stuff too cheaply. If you get a seller central account as opposed to a marketplace one you can set your own postage costs. (Many people mistake a seller central account with a pro merchant account but these are 2 different things, you could have a pro merchant marketplace account or a pro merchant seller central account) Other than setting your own postage there is not too much difference. It used to be only seller central sellers that could add new items to Amazons catalog (so you could add your item if it was not already listed on there) but a marketplace account can do that now too.0 -

The net proceeds are shown to you before you list confirm, so it is hard to see how a seller can be surprised at the amount being received.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've just sold a book and noticed that you can now use the Amazon system to buy postage via Collect plus. My item is too light to make it worthwhile, but it is a good idea for heavier goods. However, I wonder what happens with people who prefer not to receive goods by courier, as there doesn't appear to be any opt out mechanism.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Amazon themselves don't give you a choice, it's a bit random if stuff comes RM, HDN or similar. Annoying as the couriers won't use my ParcelBox.0 -
It seems to be next to impossible to get feedback on Amazon
Last week one buyer lived fairly close so I decided to hand deliver it. I was looking forward to their surprise at having a delivery so quick but they weren't in but a neighbour offered to take it.
The next day the buyer sent me a message thanking me for sending the item so quick and praised my great service. I emailed back thanking them and said I was glad they were happy and I would appreciate feedback.
So far, they haven't left any. If 3 hour delivery turnaround doesn't result in good feedback I don't know what does.

I've always left feedback when I'm happy with anything supplied by Ebay and Amazon. On Ebay it's incredibly easy and icons remain 'in your face' until you do. What is odd about Amazon is that I've spent about 20 minutes this morning trying to leave feedback for an excellent seller and I simply cannot find out how to do it, and this is not the first time I've had this problem. According to Amazon's Help section, there's a Feedback button on the buyer's order page on the bottom right of the order section - they need to check their instructions because it's just not there. I've emailed the seller and told them why I can't leave Feedback. Am I just thick or blind?Better is good enough.0

Just checked and my 'leave seller feedback' button is exactly where Amazon say, on the right hand side under the item order?!?0 -

Sometimes you can't leave feedback on Amazon for a couple days after you've ordered. I find it's around 3 days between getting the "your item has shipped" email and the order appearing in the "leave seller feedback" page.0 -
Thanks Kite, much appreciated. I checked and the button had reappeared, but why should customers have to look for it? I seem to remember it used to be much easier to leave Feedback.Better is good enough.0
