I think there is a fast listing tool for Amazon if you are a pro seller, where you can download a spreadsheet template to fill out before uploading to be processed

I've just refunded a buyer because they sent a faulty item back. I expected Amazon to ask for me to provide funds to issue the refund since my balance is £0 but they didn't, it just refunded. My balance shows £0 and I can't see any indication that I've been charged or owe money to Amazon.

So where does the money come from?

I think they take it from the credit card you have registered with them? Someone else may be able to confirm this?

My account has a negative balance now. Looking at the Amazon forums apparently they will automatically charge my credit card at the end of the settlement period if I haven't made enough sales to cover the amount.
  • Hi all

I've got maybe 10 books I would like to sell which are all on a niche subject, architecture, and from what I can gather are all 'worth' over £20. I was wondering are the first few posts still up-to-date in terms of postage costings?

It's always nerve-wracking doing things like this for the first time but have got a target of paying of my overdraft (£500) so selling a few books would help :)

    Thanks

I think postage went up by 5 p since the thread started, which nets a seller about another 4 p per book.

However you can easily check , just go ahead as though you are going to list it and it will tell you the net costs including the postage credit.

As an example though a book selling at £20 will net you £18 out of which you pay your postage.

  • I just need to be brave and weigh the books and work out how much they will cost to post - don't know why I feel nervous but I do!

Just be aware that they might be worth £20, but you might be sitting on it for a few months waiting for the buyer to come along and buy them as they are for a niche subject.

Is there any way to lower the postage charged to buyers? Another seller is selling the same item I have on Ebay and they are charging the buyer £2.51 UK delivery, however when I try and list the same item, the buyer is going to be charged £4.59. The item only costs 75p to post so if I was the buyer I wouldn't be happy if I was charged £4.59.

    Thanks

For some reason amazon adds a postage cost way above whats sensible, I have no idea why.
I do know that some 2nd hand items are actually dearer than the new items that amazon themselves sell. Because amazon offer free postage.

Sell it on ebay with 75p postage or even free postage.
