Hi Dee2 - yes I am afraid you do have to be a pro seller to list a new book from scratch

I have only sold 3 work items this week too Soolin - I wonder whats going on?

I just hope they aren't 'improving' things again, otherwise we are all doomed.

I was fiddling around listing some new things and changing some existing items this afternoon as that often triggers a sale ,but nothing. Last month I sold 70 items, this week just 3..

I find it helpful and heartening that other people are so willing to say when they're having a lean time of it. It means I'm not the only one.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a load of York Notes the local library was selling off, and although most of them weren't worth listing, a couple were - one at £10 - so thanks to everyone who's said York Notes seem to sell well. (That's the first time I've bought something specifically to sell, having only been on Amazon for 6 weeks, so it appears I am now officially addicted.)

Now that ebay allows postage on books, does anyone think it's worth listing books there that go for 1p on Amazon?

I'm not sure what the figures were for February last year, but my understanding of how things ebb and flow in life in general is that February is the worst possible month of the year for feeling positive. People just don't. Things will perk up from now on and by Easter we will be back to normal. It happens every year.

    Hang on in there.
    Better is good enough.

I've been listing all morning and have sold 2 books that I've just put up at discounted prices (just to get a sale) plus a slightly older 1p thin paperback. So it might be just like Honey Bear says and this is just a slow month.

One last box to go now...

Yeh I've noticed this also, this month has been a bit slow in general especially on amazon. 1.jpg
  • My first week on February was great, but sales have all dried up since then :(

Maybe it will improve when half term ends

I have sold 3 books today, one that I listed yesterday, and two listed around 5 months ago (both at over £15). So all I need now is a few more buyers to leave me positive feedback and I'll be happy.

  • Ah yes feedback - lots of tumbleweed blowing about on my account regarding feedback.

Not helpful at all, and the slow sales won't be improving things for the future either :(

Have lots of books to list which are stored in a friends garage as I don't have space at home. Am wondering whether to start utilising my greenhouse to store some boxes of listed books in as my shed is now full!

I say utilise everything, why buy furniture :rotfl: A box of books covered with a table cloth makes a good table, and some well stacked boxes with a cushion means you don't even need to buy chairs.

  • Haha, I was thinking about doing the table of books if i ever get round to starting as a business :rotfl:

Just out of interest does anyone know where these huge companies get their 'thousands of books a week' I was just wondering where they all came from (as we're supposed to be a nation of book hoarders)
