Morning everyone.
Child free night last night :T I'd completely forgotten we were invited to a house party by a friend of H's and my mum decided to keep the kids overnight (big mistake DD has been awake half the night). Anyway party was fab, drinking free champange and beer, canapes, a company brought in to cater, a young lad hired to sing old crooner songs and a drag act. I dread to think how much it cost H's friend but I've got to say it was a lovely night meeting some new people
Must have had about 4 glasses of champers and a couple of beers so have a mild fuzzy headache this morning but NO hangover :T Just scoffed 4 crumpets and a large coffee
so all is well with me.
Anyway going to be a Spend Day today unfortunately. We've managed to completely lose DS's shoes. Its ridiculous, we've search high and low, in the bin etc for his only pair of shoes and they are no where to be seen. Going to have one final scout around in a mo but I reckon shall have to go and buy him another pair  He needs some more wellies too but I am so cross at the extra expense. And what's the betting his shoes will miraculously appear after I've bought some more.........
Also want to look at some flannellette sheets to make his bed nice and toasty and a memory foam topper for his bed - this is all in an effort to try and get him to sleep better
Since we didn't have what was on the planner for tea last night I shall do it tonight instead.
So not very OS, just a lot of dashing around spending money today.
Hugs to those that need them, have a good day OS or not.
Donny-gal - I had a civil ceremony for my wedding and I actually preferred it as it was about us as a couple rather than about God and church.....but you wouldn't expect anything else from an atheistMind you the only downside to that was we were married by a registrar who is the UK's number one Tony Blair impersonator  (TB was still in the top job at this time) http://realblair.co.uk/index.htm is his website :rotfl: So I guess even my ceremony wasn't totally perfect
Diva - hope the hip is OK today.
We had thick snow coming back from party last night......it's now all gone as it's just rainingBring back the white stuff.......

Morning all
Feeling a lot better when I got up this morning - not so stiff and achey, which was good. On the down side, I didn't get much sleep, so quite tired now.
DDs want to go and see Alvin and the Chipmunks this afternoon, so that's our plan. They're just waiting to see if their friends can come too, so 7 kids to look after in the cinema :eek::eek:thriftlady wrote: »Very disappointed at the lack of snow here. It is just wet.
My dad sent a text last night saying there wasn't even a flake and I thought of you, hoping it would snow thriftlady
It's wet here too, and the little bit we had last night has vanished.
I was up early, so the freezer is now done and the list I made is starting to reduce. Most of the others are big jobs as stuff needs shredding, but I will get there in the end

Morning all....................(((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one.
Snow was lying when we went to bed last night, when we got up this morning it was raining, so todays wash load will have to go on the airer in the hall.
OH has not had any further 'spots' he has 2 on his shoulder which are quite nasty, but talc seems to stop them itching. Hw used toilet soap in the shower this morning, will wait till they have gone before he uses shower gel again, its possible it was the shampoo so the same with that.
I have to go to Tesco. Was hoping to string it out till tuesday but DS2 is coming tomorrow with the 3 children, so need to get orange juice etc.....
When I get back I will start cleaning the sitting room ready for the new year, was going to dd2's tomorrow will have to put that off till next week. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning all,
No snow here, just rain , its meant to be getting a lot colder here tomorrow, but we will see.
I meant to tell you on monday OH and I were at a loss to what to do, so we got in the car and had a long drive through the country with little dog, stopped off in a pub car park and went off for a walk, then back to the pub, where I went in to order some food, and OH and Little dog sat in the garden, when I went to join them, they were both sat next to a roaring log burner in the middle of the garden it was beautiful and toasty and warm, so we sat in the frosty garden next to a lovely fire eating french onion soup and a warm crusty roll, it was perfect :T I have some photos to put on my FB later.
Today it will be a general tidy round, I have one load in the wm, so will get that on the airer, dd is supposed to be having two friends to sleepover tonight, but one has been grounded for getting completly drunk over xmas , and we are waiting to hear from the other.
Anyway we are off to town for a quick look round this morning, roast chicken for dinner with all the trimmings, and I need to slice the ham I cooked yesterday and freeze it in portions, I'm also going to make ham and pea soup with the stock.
Getting slightly panicky about the move now, we booked the van yesterday, but I woke several times in the night in a cold sweat, its not too bad but I want this house to be spotless before we go.
Donny I meant to say to you, its your go to start scrabble.
Have good days all, hugs where needed xx
Any news of Haribo ????0 -
Morning all!
No snow here either, though the rain does seem to have washed away some of the ice which is definately a good thing.
Worked on monday and then went to a panto in Leeds in the afternoon. It was quite good and the kids (went with a friend and her ds)loved it. had Mcdonalds for tea and then back on the train which is always a treat for the kids.
Off to the same friends for lunch and a play today-well the kids, we'll just gossip!!!
Cooked my turkey breast joint with sausages and stuffing for tea yesterday. I got it as I LOVE cold turkey, stuffing and sausage sandwiches with cranberry sauce. It was a waitrose turkey and although it was very moist it didn't taste of turkey as there was so much pepper on it. DD wouldn't eat most of hers and if it had been for a proper christmas dinner I would've been very disappointed. I'm wondering whether to complain-any opinions?
WM and TD are on and another load of washing to go in. DD has been wet 2 nights out of 3. I think its because shes been going to bed (and rising luckily) later. I must remember to lift her tonight.
My whole house needs a good clean an I have started on tidying dd's stuff away but everything could really do with a good sort out. Wish I hadn't swopped a shift at work for someone next week. I was thursday and sunday but am now tuesday and thursday and will be taking down christmas decs on monday when shes back at school, so feel like I won't get anything done until next wednesday!!
Right better go. Hugs for all that'd like one.July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

morning all:j
Well mr flappy is back to his usualself;)
just about to go to hairdressers to get his big hair tamed a bit, could be there some time as he is fascinated by their door handle:o;).
Just been out to choose a book with his book tokens.
Making his favourite HM chick pie later for tea and got some asparagus for 50p from co op to put in OHs.....I hate the stuff.
Very cold here today and snowy but the ground is wet so it isnt lying.
May also make some soup today as we have piles of carrots and a swede lying about.
Have a big pile of ironing to do still:o, I do put it off as i hate it.
MSD hope your hip is ok hon, we miss you when you are not here.
Bitsy glad you enjoyed your night out......how are things with DS re his assessment etc....I have my books back that someone borrowed so if you feel they would help give me PM and I dont mind sending you some of my ever growing ASD library:cool:0 -
Morning all:j
Very noisy here today - I have the tree men in to lop the silver birch which is taking over the garden. They are also going to attack the Leylandii (sp?) plus some very overgrown laurel trees and a sickly looking lilac. It breaks my heart to bring a mature tree down but it is getting dangerous and in the summer, when in full leaf, will completely shade half the garden! The people I bought this cottage from were not gardeners by any stretch of the imagination and consequently it is a jungle out there! Luckily, the weather is holding here in Essex so they are cracking on - just put the shredding machine on:eek: Hope nobody here is expecting a lie-in:o
I'm sitting here trying to start my Home Management Journal and finding it hard to decide on 'sections'. Plus, my printer is broken so I am unable to print any diaries or recipes .... I will spend a few hours (:o) on the frugal meals thread to make a list of storecupboard meals. That should help with meal planning.
DD on a sleepover last night so the house is quiet (and tidy:rotfl:). Dogs waiting to be walked but can't go until the tree men have finished. Need to pop to Mr. T's to get a few bits for tomorrow night. We will be celebrating with friends and will all bring a dish to share. The hostess has asked me to do breads and salads. The 'main course' will be a chicken dish - 17 for dinner!!!
Hope you are all having a peaceful day.
Diva - hope the hip is better
Essex - how was 'Paperchase'?

Urgh, I have so much to do today. So much that I've had to do a list and strangely, sitting on here isn't one of the things on it!
I'm hosting a NYE party tomorrow (not at home thankfully) and have lots of preparations to make as well as the general cleaning and tidying and washing and, well, everything that a normal house needs after a few days of neglect!
Lunch today will be somehting on rolls and tea will be a YS ham, bacon and leek pie that is clogging up my freezer. I don't normally buy ready made pies but it was very reduced and looks yummy. Not sure whether to have chips or mash and veg yet, depends on how exhausted I am after today I guess.
MrS is on a late shift today which means he doesn't get home until 7:30. This shift tires me out as I'm up at normal time and do little jobs until he gets home whereas on a normal shift where he finshes before or at the same time as me we sit together once we're both in. This shift means my working day is extended by two hours.0 -
Cooeee.......
Anyone remember me?Internet problems not fully solved but I can log in today which is something. BT have well and truly messed up but I have ways of making them pay.
Christmas was it's usual lovely chaotic self. The Girls' are delighted with all their gifts and OH and I managed not to kill eachother, though at one stage on Christmas day I did consider a human version of the 3 bird roast.
The last of the turkey is simmering in the form of broth atm which we'll have tommorrow before going out to our friends for Hogmanay and I have a huge beef joint defrosting for NYD.
The weather has been incredible here. I'm not sure it's been above freezing at all and the lowest we recorded was -16. In spite of this the hens are still opting to roost in the trees so it's a mad dash at dusk to get them into their house.
There was a bit of snow last night but it looks like it is milder today so hopefully things will clear up. It's all very pretty but I'd like not to fall over any more. And we won't even mention the sledging incident
Sorry I haven't a clue what's going on with you all but I hope that everyone had the Christmas they deserved and that no one had any bad news. Thinking of everyone who is ill or upset. And thanks for missing me. :A
