  • The only reason disabled on wheelchairs are boarded last is the refuelling process, if the fuel line exploded or accident it would be hard to get them off quick , when you board normally your not allowed to put seatbelts on till after refuelling

I have always found Ryanair fine to deal with.

You know the regulations...they may seem petty but their flights are the cheapest I've seen. I'm happy to continue to use them.

Interestingly enough though Virgin and BA board them first. Are they not worried about refuelling issues?

I believe these airlines will not commence boarding until refuelling is complete. It is quite correct that you cannot put your seatbelt on while the fuel bowser is alongside.

Ryanair have much shorter turnaround times, as little as 25 minutes, so have to do it that way. I see no problem with it whatsoever.

I have definitely been on BA flights whilst refuelling is taking place. Perhaps they have recently change their policy?

Whilst talking about Special Assistance needs on Ryanair, can my wife take her walking stick on the plane with her? Does it count as extra hand luggage?

    Ta.

I travel several times per year with my daughter who uses a wheel chair. Often with Ryanair, and that works excellent. They do reserve seats (often row 2 A-C) for her and up to two more persons. She is often boarded last, but as the seats are reserved it is only a hand luggage problem. If the flight is fully booked the bins are usually full.
Still Ryanair is better than many other airlines even though they are cheaper

Ryanair does deliver cheap flights at times and, if you study their rules, you can avoid the extra charges. But I wonder if even the keenest Ryanair fans have a nagging fear that they will be left stranded some time. There has been the odd occasion when a flight was canceled and people were left to find their own way home, at a much greater cost than their refund.

I am amazed at the amount of support for RA arrogant ways.
I can only assume that nothing has ever gone awry for them when traveling RA.
Just this Tuesday my wife was returning from Lanzarote only to have the flight canceled by RA 'Act of God' They were in the airport for 5 hours before the flight was canceled! No water or drinks given out. 'We do not have too'.One RA rep wandering up a 3 aircraft queue.Stating that could get home Thursday but would be a very long flight and with 3 stops but Saturday would be as normal.
When she arrived at the desk 5 hours later, correction she was in the queue for 5 hours. The PA was very short with her. Virtually told they could get her home on Thursday. They are not obligated to give any compensation. Would she like a refund of half her ticket. The PA did look embarrassed when she was told what the rep had already stated.
Upshot wife staying another 4 days reasonable hotel. Lucky old credit card.!!
But it seems trawling the web that its something RA do, they do not pay any compensation, unlike EasyJet and other low cost airlines. So she will just have to lay back and think of England and enjoy coz there is no money coming back to us!!
Very difficult to complain to RA. No procedure.
And this rant was my 1000 post!!
