I love bright colours as well. The scarf I knitted is multicoloured in pink, yellow, orange. I made one for my daughter and liked it so much I had to make one for myself!

So, come on you lot, how many of you laughed when I said I would use feathered wool?????????????????????? Someone could have told me its even harder to crochet with it than knit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P What a nightmare!! Never again will I crochet a mouse out of feathered wool!! Looks good though!! :)

Woo hoo finally managed to get my hands on the art of crochet at w h smiths.

just done my first slip knot and it took me bloody ages, in the end had to go onto you tube to see it in action. gona have a proper look at the dvd tomorrow. but to be honest i didn't realise being left handed would be a problem til i read all the messages on this thread. trying to follow the instructions but doing them left handed, now i realise why i was so cack handed at knitting (well thats my excuse).

Anyway managed to make a foundation chain of about 20 stitches and i just keep pulling them out and practising to try and make them look perfect and to get the tension right.

I have to say the magazine is well worth 99p for the first issue as you get the hook and 2 ball of yarn, there was loads in smiths in Leicester.

Its finally clicked for me, using the dvd that came with the magazine and youtube, yesterday I began a babies hat pattern that seems easy to follow.... size is newborn to 3 months.... mine fits my 15 year old daughter lol!!! So today I will try again only keep my stitches nice and neat, oh and I have been warned not to unpick the first hat, the girls are fighting over it!! At least I have managed to make something that resembles a hat eh?

Hi kinkyjinks :hello:Nothing wrong with being cack-handed...It just makes the finished piece look unique :rotfl:

Nuttybabe. We were all secretly sniggering at you but wanted you to suffer :D I bet it looks good though. We'll need a piccy!

p-pincher - I'm seriously impressed with your patience. I'd have just been happy with managing to do a chain and I'd have carried on. To hell what it looked like :D In saying that I did 6 rows of the scarf and realized it the original chain was too tight so it resembled a banana. I had realized it after the first row but didn't want to unravel it. Unravelling 6 rows of nearly 260 stitches is SO MUCH WORSE than unravelling 1 row

kazipoo - Tell everyone you cleverly adapted a pattern to fit your daughter. I'd be impressed :D Even with the resizing well done on your success!!!!!

  • ok so far I've managed the snake, 2 headbands, 1 granny square and a few flowers... think it's safe to say I'm liking this. Don't think I'll bother with the other mags though with the range of patterns online and tutorials on youtube

Thank you for the welcome SueB :hello: I'm looking forward to 'unique' items I make in the future LOL.

I'm loving the mouse Nuttybabe, I never laughed when I saw you were going to use eyelash wool, I thought you were very brave and must be really good at crochet ;)

I'm pleased to announce that after practising several chains, watching the dvd and online tutorials on double crochet several times then ripping out loads of attempts at said double crochet, I'm finally ready to either try my hand at a granny square or practise a new basic  stitch.

I've decided that it could actually be fun to learn, especially knowing that so many others are learning at the same time (although I feel a bit slower on the uptake than all those others:rotfl:).
