Nothing wrong with granny squares. I love 'em! :D Although I'm thinking by the end of this month we'll all be infested with mice if we carry on! :)

I agree SueB, think (after seeing Nuttybabe's fluffy mouse) I might give the mice a go lol.

Now have enough granny squares to make 5 blankets :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

thats cool but i dont have any green or red wool. got a load to pick up from my mums next time i visit so will save that one for future use. and yes i know it doesnt have to be the right colours but i am odd like that!

i do have a rather disgusting looking wool that has lots of browns/yellow and brownish green in so could be mice or rabbit or something (hopefully will look better when used). not found anything yet on youtube so still open to suggestions.

all my wool seems to be quite thin as well, do you think i could just double it up? in which case i have blue and pink in normal wool as well.

The mouse you made is really cute. If you don't have to have videos to make the animals, have a look at this blog. Plenty of free Amigurumi patterns for beginners there. Look at the lables on the left hand side and take your pick.
Amigurumis is all I ever crochet but I bought the magazine now that has been mentioned here so I'm gonna try to make granny squares and other stuff as well.

Hey Girls, Can I join in?

Tried to learn crochet a few years ago but found it too tricky. Decided it to try it again after being inspired by reading this thread and attic24's blog.

Managed to finally get the new crochet mag after battling the snow today. Got it in Smiths - Hull and there were loads left. Also bought a mag the other day called learn crochet or something that came with six balls of wool. I haven't really made much progress but definitely can agree that the dvd which comes with 'The Art of Crochet' is most helpful.

I want to crochet small animals like the animaguri or whateve rthey are called. I have a cute book with crochet grim reapers and allsorts in lol. I hope I do better at this than knitting. I'm not known for my patience...

I have had several attemps at crochet over the years and its never clicked for me, so yesterday i went and got the magazine and i still cant do it! Have no idea why, i just cant get my head around it, can do the chain fine, but then it all goes very wrong! I can knit even the most complicated patterns, but not this.
i would say I am an experienced crocheter have been doing it for years and I bought the magazine as my mum wanted it. Had a go myself and had to rip it out about 6 times before I managed it. The chains are ok the trebles ok but putting them both together in that pattern is not for a beginner I would say. Get a bigger needle and thicker wool and do a sample in doubles and a sample square in trebles and keep practising.

Ok, I'm feeling very proud of my achievements so far. Had the mag since Sunday and still haven't managed a granny square , so I thought I would go googling "easy" patterns. Decided to try my hand at a baby hat, since a friends daughter just had her first son, well.... turned out a bit on the huge side, so decided I was being far too relaxed with the wool and tried again. I will attempt to show you my efforts (haven't used photobucket for ages), and will add more pics tomorrow as I have just finished off the first bootie. The other thing is, I thought I was doing this in a double stitch, but now I'm not so sure that I have been using a double stitch, it could just be a Kazipoo stitch lol... anyway, here goes....!!
