I take it nobody else has had the ring fencing issue this time - I have!!!

The mobile site kept crashing during payment so I persevered until my card was declined and then called CC company/TL to be told that money was in a holding account but wouldn't be taken as bookings hadn't gone through (except the 2 I had confirmation emails for).

Fingers crossed it all gets sorted :o

Hi, anyone stayed in London at the London city road lodge? I says its noisy, is it that bad? Great if someone could advise.

    xx

Yes - several times - its actually my favourite one. Just ask for a high up room and one facing away from the club (the front of the building is ok - its a main road but only a few cafes, small restuarants and businesses on it - there are also rooms at the side but just make sure you get the side away from the club (its only a small one but open until about 7am!!!!). Its really clean and the staff have always been lovely (quite unusual for a travelodge!).

If you want a fab restaurant within 10 mins walk - try http://www.maida-restaurant.co.uk/ - we go there every time we go to London - its wonderful and very reasonably priced!:j

Southend has a nice Theme Park-Adventure Island. You buy wristbands based on height and can use Tesco Club Card deals to buy these. We went there in July/Aug a couple of times and it was great as hardly an queues and good rides. Has a reasonably priced rainforest Cafe type (moving animals) restaurant on site.

Here is the link for Adventure Island. It also looks like you can get free rail travel in peak times from London rail stations.

We went to Eastbourne in the May half term at £9 a night too. It is a good location, right on the seafront, few minutes from an old fashioned pier and 5 mins walk to the shops. Breakfast was good . The TL is an old fashioned type one, but was clean with big rooms. If you are driving go past the TL, next block along and on the side road by the Britianna Hotel we found free parking, as there are parking meters in front of the TL.

Thanks for the info. I actually booked the one of the edge of Eastbourne when I saw the parking price. We'll only use it as a base to sleep in but I will look for the free parking when we venture into Eastbourne.

I also got my parents 5nights in Cheltenham for £71 at the start of the summer school holidays.

I've had all my confirmation emails through.

I just booked a £9 room for the Leamington Spa Regents Hotel TL to save travelling back from Warwick Castle as plan visiting again using our Merlin passes. It gets good reviews as it appears to be an old fashioned Grand type building.

Never stayed in the lodge, but it's a beautiful building outside, right on the main shopping street of Leam, and directly opposite a Wetherspoons for brekkie or next to a Starbucks if that's your tipple!

Turn left out of the entrance, walk down the Parade and you hit Balti Boulevard where you are spoilt for choice on where to buy a really tasty large balti + naan for around £6. OH and I always go for the one with the most garish sign!

Anyway, off to bed now. I can't cope with getting up at 5am.:rotfl:
