I've instructed them to do an EPC, they were very quick getting the guy to come out and do it, but now its taking ages to actually getting it!!! When you ring you get an answer phone which is frustrating.
Not impressed as instructed them 2 weeks ago to do this simple job.
• Well my nightmare is still not over.

After some initially positive contact from David Sampson, the Legal Manager, and Ryan Newbury, the Customer Services manager, who both said we would get a full refund should they find themselves at fault, it's all gone quiet after my last email.

They had taken their time and finally offered us a sum of money which didn't even cover the costs we'd incurred having to move on a second day - let alone reimburse our fees or compensate us in any way.

My next stop is the "small claims court". I refuse to let these cowboys get away with it!!!
• Fridays is an absolute shower - stay well clear. More details to follow.
• Where to start?!

Non responsive conveyancer - doesn't respond to email or phone messages. Has to be hounded in order to reply. Adds little value to the process - just acts as a conduit between the seller and the buyer's solicitor and sometimes can't even get that right.

Don't appear to follow their own process as detailed on their website.

Statement of accounts for the sale received on the afternoon of the day of completion despite being promised multiple times before.

Their quote is not a quote - when you contract with them you appear to pay them money so that they can then charge you fees without prior notice or consent - they present a bill at the end and subtract it from the proceeds of the sale.

The high price at the end would be acceptable if the service was good but it was miserable. Nothing like paying top-shelf prices and getting bottom-shelf service from a clerk. I can't emphasise enough - steer clear. A bargepole's distance is far too close.
• Oh how I wish I'd found this thread before. We completed on our house sale last month and I wouldn't use Fridays again if you paid me.

Utterly incompetent, for all the reasons that others state, but not only that...they've actually charged ME for THEIR incompetence.

This thread has prompted me to write a letter of complaint both to them and the legal ombudsman.

The whole cheap EPC/HIP and conveyancing malarky is utter crap. My bill came to £1000:mad:

Just looking into buying/selling and arranging HIP etc. Got a very reasonable online quote from Fridays Property Lawyers and the reviews i've read seem to be good but wondered if anyone has dealt with them before?

All advice welcome!

don't use them.

get a 'solicitor' for your fee....i used to work in a conveyancers and we always laughed at clients who paid solicitor rates and got an ex-secretary, or unqualified.

do you know your conveyancers qualification posters?
My posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:

My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o

if you go cheap, you get cheap.

insist that a 'solicitor' acts for you...ask them point blank are you a solicitor, and if they say no then ask them why are they charging the same as 'solicitors'

• I joined this forum having Google searched "problems with Fridays Property Lawyers" I truly wish that I had before I chose the to carry out the conveyancing onmy property. I am now in week 12 of proceedings of what should have been a simple transaction, my friend has opted to buy my house, and all that has been achieved so far is a Fensa indemnity policy and deeds retrieved from my bank. I have too many unanswered emails and my telephone calls are never returned.
I am now in the process of collecting data for presentation to Watchdog if anyone has a story to tell or would like to be included on the ever increasing list of dissatisfied customers drop me a line at usensuk@hotmail.com or just leave a message on this forum.
Many thanks Stef
• I read up on Fridays before instructing them but unfortunately this thread didn't come up on Google.

Does anyone have suggestions on whether there is a case to peruse them for a partial refund and how to go about it?

Perhaps they could be liable for consequential loss (additional mortgage payments primarily) due to slow service?
• They dealt with our sale and purchase. Our purchase fell though (not their fault), so we found another property. the day we were due to exchange - and complete the next day - we found out there were still outstanding issues with the sale (after 3 months!), spent the afternoon on the phone/driving round sorting them. We asked for an invoice many times, but requests were ignored, then on the evening before completion we got an invoice for £7/8k more than it should have been (sleepless night!) as they had misplaced money we had already paid them. In then end, it all worked out ok - our estate agent was great chasing them, along withour nagging! BUT, couldn't recommend them - accounting really bad (four months later, we've had an invoice for the abortive purchase of the first property), and there were issues with them not being very reliable contascting the other solicitors. Really felt that shouldn't have to keep phoning and chasing someone who I'm paying... having said that, first experience doing this - maybe alot of solicitors are the same!
