My experience with solicitors is that you do have to keep chasing. It's always been that way whoever I've used. However, it's important to remember that Friday's are conveyancers, not solicitors.
Roobie - it does sound like they've been pretty shoddy, but so long as you don't have to pay the outstanding invoice (assuming you are not contractually obliged to!) I think you've got off pretty lightly, given other anecdotal evidence of Fridays.
Saying that, I don't think any of the other large conveyancy firms are any better. The vendors we bought off also used one, and my solicitor found them impossible to deal with (and says they are all the same).0 -
I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone else (like me) reads this and thinks it is about the conveyancing from fridaysmove.com - I believe it isn't!
"Fridays Property Laywers Ltd" went in administration in 2011 or late 2010. Just google " "fridays property lawyers" administration "
Does anyone know anything about fridaysmove.com? Do they do an ok job?
Thanks!0 -
Absolutely atrocious, avoid like the plague!0

They are a referral agency that takes a fee ffor solciitors for referring work to them. I got approached by them recently toreceive referrals in my area and told that I did not beleive in referral fees as a matter of principle.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
I'm just starting out for a purchase, and had a good quote from FridaysMove, as has already been said. Was rung up by them and given the name of the local solicitor, their webpage clearly states what is included, which covers all main items other than searches. The lady I spoke to also confirmed any extras, and it all sounds very impressive.
Has anybody used them recently? Are there any other firms I could consider? Their total costs would be about £430 as opposed to other firms' comparable quotes at £700.0 -
I have just used Fridays move website and it is important to remember that the price on their website is just the legal fees, It didnt include the disimbursements etc so you will probably end up paying the solicitor much more that what the Fridays move website quotes. Personally i think that this should have been made clearer as its ridiculous that websites are still giving out partial information like this. I have been allocated Davidson-Smith and Co so will see how this company turns out0
