Re Fridays - I don't know much about them as a firm, but one of their people has been active recently on HouseWeb and other property forums making sensible/helpful comments on posts there.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Before comparing quotes, take a look at this.0

Dont forget to check the completion statement like a hawk! Without casting aspersions on such a noble profession, I have had 3 completions in my life, 2 of which have had simple 'arithmetic' errors (in the solicitors favour, funnily enough). They were both laughed off as 'Oh silly me' sort of errors, but with the large sums of money flying around, the odd grand here or there is easy to overlook, but makes for a nice weekend away in the sun for the solicitor.
Edit: Note - nothing to do with the firm mentioned in this thread.0 -
is any one heard fridays property lowyers
and had deal with them selling property
did they stick with there estimate they give you0 -
Yes - I used them and no they didn't stick to the estimate, in fact they were over the estimate by 2k - I'm fighting with them to get some of it back now. Don't use themNever let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

I used Friday's for selling and the quote given with the HIPs application bore no resemblance to the fees charged, which were over 2.5x higher. Read the terms and conditions very very carefully, ask for them again if you ticked them with the HIP application before using them for conveyancing - absolutely everything is charged separately, including things you would assume were included (i.e. things that are standard to a sale of any property). On top of this, the service was frustrating - for 6 weeks (!!!) absolutely no progress was made on my sale, with no updates given without me chasing them, and my conveyancing solicitor never ever answered her phone (I resorted to emailing her demanding to be called back). My process took over 5 months. I would not recommend.0

Well.....The HIP went well and we have just instructed them for purchase/sale so we will have to wait and see. My fingers are firmly crossed but the last 2 comments do not fill me with optimism....0

hi, has anyone ever used 'conveyquote'? - seem to be based in wales, they look to be the cheapest and are recommended by theadvisory website - just checking no foul play between the 2 !0

Id like the an answer to the above question too. How useful is a recommendation from theadvisory?
Anyone had any dealings?0 -
Recently decided to instruct Fridays to sell a property based on their fast response to the HIP service. But now I know that this is really a hook to try and get you into what is a really rubbish conveyancing service. Don't let the cheap quote fool you. Read carefully the terms and conditions for all the extra charges they will bill you for including trying to rip you off in delaying by one day the transfer of sale proceeds even though you pay a CHAPS fee for same day transfer. For two months absolutely nothing was done until I decided to chase for progress. Getting through is worse than a call centre. At the end of the day you will end up spending loads of time chasing and this will cost you in time and phone calls. Next time I will instruct a local solicitor - at least I can see who I am dealing with.0
