Ok, so I think I couldn't afford to have a 0% credit card even if I would get one. My budget's really tight and the s.loan will be paid by end of this year if I keep up the same payments. I know the minimum amount would obviously lessen if I transfered some money off virgin to a 0% deal, but then I would have to make sure the 0% deal would be paid off in the deal time, which might be too much of a stretch with other payments. I'm thinking correctly here? I was thinking to get a 0% deal when s.loan has finally been paid off. This to me would make more sense.

Is there any reason why you can't tart your cards around? We regularly transfer our CC debts between 0% cards - but there is still a transfer fee to pay then of around 3%

Can you shift the £4000 from the student loan to a 0% card. If you can, and can pay it off within the time (16 months for some cards) then I would apply for a card. Be aware that you have just moved though, and this might hamper your application - unless you are getting an offer from an existing card!

    Morning all!

Good thinking CMD, didn't even cross my mind I could shift the s.loan onto 0% card as I just did that with the other transfer. It would have to be another transfer to a bank account though.

Saving, I've not long ago did the balance transfer onto virgin cc and wouldn't probably get another with such a high credit limit, and I can't afford to have 2 cards atm I don't think. Will have to look into this, I think barclaycard has a good offer atm. Might ring HSBC and see if they would offer me a good deal...

  • I'm not sure what other cards would transfer to a bank account but if you go on to the credit cards forum I'm sure they will tell you!

Gosh I just realised how impatient I am (not anything new to be honest...). I moved in on Sunday last week and am already impatient cos my flatmate hasn't still sorted my bed out (it's a divan bed in a loft) nor sorted the tv/broadband package. I just want to say SORT IT! but it's early days yet I guess... (hmm, where's the shruggy shoulder emoticon gone?)

Managed to get my line managers dongle working in my room yesterday, so got to do l1ttlewoods scratchie but not virgin one, which is a shame as you can withdraw earlier on the latter. Never mind, I'm sure it'll all get sorted soon.

I am not sure you can withdraw from virgin anymore - Tirl - they have raised the limit and changed the rules - you need to check it out.

Could your Bf not help the flatmate lift your bed down?

Well if that's the case, thank god I managed to do mine last year. S.loan will be paid by end of the year because of that.

Well, I did say to my flatmate yesterday that I didn't mind helping to get the bed down...If it doesn't get sorted next week latest, I'm gonna start really badgering her.

:) I do have a bed, but it's just a box bed, and she said she has a divan bed with 4 draws and I really need the storage. She was supposed to change the bed the weekend I ended up moving, but even if I hadn't moved then, I don't think she would've done it.
