Well folks- deep depression in Bobland as back to work..booooooooo

Loads of paperwork- well computer work, typing etc and uploading..does my nut in seeing that little green circle going round- then constantly putting password in ( not compatable with firefox and internet explorer is so slow)

But expenses done again...waits gleefully for cheque so worth an afternoon of frustration..talking of which

    Online banking done
Overpayment on car loan - done...oh yes!!!
Budget done- taken into account overspends yesterday when visiting folks and they wanted an impromptu meal out..bah!
Positive mental attitude going on here...have a bit of a reduced timetable but wage rise as well..so won't be too badly off and less driving in this weather is a bonus. Was very cold today and now snowing again..brrr

So off to make tea. Have a brew and catch up later.

  • Enjoy the tea - well done on the whoopsies of days gone past- enjoy 2010 - may your freezer always be lavishly stocked and the supermarkets always be empty for your visits.

Congrats on the overpayment on the car!

Grr to rellies who want meals out (been stung with that more than once this holiday) OH's just announced he wants out for steak for tea (NOT cheap) he'd better rember his wallet

AND - GRRRR just got into my car which he's been driving (well drove us home here through bad conditions) and rather than mention at the MrT#s petrol station over the water last night whilst we were in the carpark of the supermarket he FORGOT to mention that I was almost out of petrol - now empty car and the prospect of hefty petrol purchase with no CC points!

Its about 20p a litre cheaper there at MR T's in Wick (well almost) - B****cks
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
  • This is what happens Fay..nice to see you back from OH's family.

Well is a snow day here today. It reduces the potential to earn money, but better safe than sorry..i think it stands at 6 inches at the moment..:)

So will be ultra frugal for rest of the month. Will use the opportunity to continue tidying and sorting out and updating snowball.

Mr.B has been travelling in this and i am a bit worried as the news showed forecasts that the motorway was shutting near him. So i hope he is sensible and tries to sort out something nearby rather than try and make it back. I really don't think he should have gone in.

So that' my update for the day.

Hope everyone is safe and enjoying the day.

only stuck with an inch of snow here ,,,we seem to be dodging it well in dublin,,,now if only the council would grit a bit further than the main roads:o,,we have small hills around us, makes for unhappy driving ,,,especially as covered in ice.....
have to go out this am,,,but oh is off so kids can stay at home thankfully..

    BAAAARRRRRRRRRRKING er insanely so :o
  • Extra snow here now Shaun, so another day off work tomorrow as School's are closed as well..oh dear :)

Have used day wisely- finished paperwork, sorted out food challenges, updated frugal spreadsheet- What a bloomin shocker that one was.

After looking at said spreadsheet have decided i can cut at least another £3000 a year off...anyone want to guess what that could be?...Mr.B's car perhaps??? Apparently bulk of petrol, running expenses, etc go on it so that could be a good saving if a cheaper model is bought or better still if he gets a job locally. Would be nominal then. :)

Right off for a mooch and if anyone wants to play me at scrabble on fb- feel free as i have time on my hands. Although ISOM reckons i have to play three letter words then she can beat me...;)

Still no snow here Bob - good stuff on your snow day tomorrow though! :j

Ludicrous amount of money that car is costing...why is it I find myself feeling that if it came out of his own pocket, rather than joint funds, he'd not be so keen to have the gas guzzling thing?!

Don't think anyone is going to escape the snow after tonight.
That is a lot of money on his car..think you really need to convince him on that score!!!
  • I know-i have just been playing with Martin's new budget tool- the things we do eh? Good news is that we are spending less than we earn. Our budget allows for quite a bit- but i reckon varies by £200 a month. Currently it is £1000 less than we earn a month, but will be more when i get a pay rise. I also have to factor in that i am not paid over main hols, but that may change soon as well..hopefully. So School hols are out, but i have signed up for extras through Marking and what not.

Bad news is that the biggest bit is on debt repayment...oh what a suprise! Seeing that in a pie chart is very enlightening i can tell you.The surplus is a good amount a month, but i still feel i am on catch up duties all the time. I need to knock all of that on the head. I put in worst case scenario's and over estimated as Martin suggests as well. So i am at the cheapest i can possibly get-i think for insurances.

His lordship's car is due for renewal in Feb- i think that is the time for him to say Good bye and get a cheaper model. I must admit that he probably used quite a bit today, given the weather conditions it took him 3 hours to get to work and 2 hours to get back. He put £50 in on Sunday, so will see how far that goes.

I put £30 to fill up- it will last me 7 days at least, so i fill up £90-120 a month- depending on work schedule- all reclaimable, in fact i make enough to cover running costs, tax and insurance. Last month i did 900 miles, 750 of which were reclaimable.

His costs £200 - £250 a month for a 70 mile round trip 5 times a week. 1400 miles roughly a month. No brainer really, smaller car- more miles cheaper tax, running costs and well everything. Or am i getting confused with costs..lol, must be all the spreadheets i am filling in.

This is the crux really for him to budget properly for expenses. Also on top of that is £40 per month parking. When i look at what he brings home a month his car loan, costs and whatnot actually come to a large proportion of his income.:o It was fine when he was working for himself( well actually it wasn't cos he didn't save up for tax etc) on paper.

My head is buzzing with it all now- i will get on top of it if it kills me.:rotfl:
