Hi everyone - DH and I were back to work today and DS16 arrived safely home from school ski trip. :j Asked DD13 to buy 3 carrots and 2 onions for me today so I wouldn't be tempted to buy anything else. These will be used for a savoury mince recipe which I'll be cooking in the slow cooker tomorrow.
Freeezing here in Devon but no snow yet!
My advice to newbies is to make a menu plan but also if you cook something like spaghetti bolognese, chilli or savoury mince, then make a double amount and freeze the spare one. This doesn't mean you have to buy double the amount of meat... simply pad it out with more chopped vegetables or a handful or two of oats. This really helps because you'll find that by the end of the month there could be several spare meals ready made and free! HTH TheBeesMortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Back to work today and managed to avoid the call of a cappucino and muffin from the restaurant this morning
I have however had a spend of £16.33 today in Home Bargains. This was a stock up the cleaning supplies, food bags and kitchen roll plus a new bottle for the gym as mine has disappeared
Also bought a rug for the living room which finishes it nicely (just 19.99) and a birthday present for my neice from Debenhams. So total spend today is 76.32
Thankfully this isn't all from GC money otherwise I would be struggling. I keep separate budgets for birthdays and household items so my only food spend was £2.96. I'm very pleased with where we stand so far this month - long may it continue.:xmastree:Merry Christmas0 -
Doing quite well...haven't spent anything on groceries yet. OH will nip to Mr T early tomorrow morning for a few bits for the children's packed lunches and some milk...he will be under strict instructions not to spend more than necessary.
So far this year I have only spent £10 on diesel for my car0 -

Evening all,
NSD today on groceries as started new job-very long day sat in an induction presentation, took sandwiches and a flask of coffee which somehow spilt all over my rucksack:eek:, so stuck to water from the dispenser.
I am not happy at all though as i have to pay for parking, at a so called 'discounted' rate of £5, so thats £10 on parking this week alone to attend training that is mandatory:eek:, i think thats wrong, i dont have a spare £10 to park, if i get the bus, even though its miles, it wil still cost me £4 so i appreciate id have to pay either way but i still resent it, especially as i dont even work at the hospital im being sent to! Its in the city centre so not really anywhere i can park for free, plus the weather being so snowy i wanted to be undercover, but im still not impressed!
Ok well rant over:o, tonight was just a thrown together type thing as i was shattered and dh hadnt long since been in, so had pasta and tomato sauce with a couple of cumberland sausages.
Am full of a cold so am eating throat lozenges and hoping my voice doesnt go as its very sore and my voice is starting to go hoarse.
Back to the hospital for training tommorrow and to throw a fiver away again:mad:. Its snowing again tonight so dont want to leave it in a space i might be lucky enough to find on a side street, to clean the snow off.
I shall stop moaning now, my apologies to you all:o
Untill tommorrow, good night x0 -
Evening all!
Had a small shop today, needed to stock up on Bread Flour, Yeast, Milk & Eggs just in case the 'big freeze' stops me from leaving the village (which is often the case when it snows).
I haven't been inspired to cook much today as have felt really 'yuk':(. SO hoping for a better day tomorrow. Sig. updated.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
